4 Days Post-Op -- Ovaries are "Sleeping"

I'm four days post-op and am home, thankfully! My doctor did a hormone-level test today because it seems my ovaries, while still there, are "sleeping" -- had some wicked hot flashes in the hospital, woke up bathed in sweat, etc. Anyone else had this experience? Thanks.

I had the same experience that you are talking about, awful hot flashes and sweats in the hospital and about the first two to two and a half weeks. It has went away. I used herbals to help. Black Cohosh, but you should talk to your doctor before you do anything like that, especially if you are on other meds. I wish you well in your recovery!

Lisa,
When I had my hysterectomy I opted to have my ovaries removed because my doctor told me that because of my age (49) and the fact that I was starting menopause anyhow, the ovaries would probably shut down after surgery anyhow. He said it could be temporary or permanent.

I agree with the other posts, try a herbal supplement until you see if they start working again. Estroven or any other supplement with black cohash should help.

Good luck, I hope you find some relief.
