II Corinthians (6-8)

6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap bountifully.

7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to all good work.

Proverbs 12:2-4


2 A good man obtaineth favour of the Lord: but a man of wicked devices will be condemn.

3 A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.

4 A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband; but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.

Paul writes to the Christians in Corinth:

**He who sows (gives) sparingly and grudgingly will also reap very little. He who sows generously will also reap much in return, with blessings, just as a farmer who plants many seeds will reap a bountiful crop.

**Everyone should make up his own mind/heart as to how much to give; not reluctantly or under force, because God loves a *joyous* giver. He takes pleasure in, and prizes a giver whose heart is in his giving. (Proverbs 22:9)

**God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that you may always have enough of everything and will be provided in abundance for every good work that you do.

**. . . A person's deeds of kindness and benevolence will be an honor to him/her and will endure forever.

I don't want to be a selfish Scrooge! May God teach me to have a spirit of joyful generosity to others.

I found a prayer that seems appropriate here: "Lord, so much activity, so many things, so numberless the people, and yet You remain! Bless (me) today with largeness of heart and beauty of character for Your glory." Amen.
