Panic Attacks

I just wondered if anyone else is experiencing panic attacks?

I used to have bad panic attacks when my children were small, but for the last 10 years have not really had them.

Since the surgery and all the worrying and all I notice that I am more stressed and have had one pretty bad panic attack.

Has anyone else had this?

Panic Attacks

Me too!!

I had a six hour attack in the hospital. Even the medication could not control it. It was horrible. Now I get scared just thinking about it.

I have suffered on and off for the past 30 yrs. I'd go 10 years without one and then--bang!!

I do believe panic attacks can be caused not only by mental issued but by physical issues and both together.

Our minds, bodies and souls are healing after a traumatic experience. Give yourself time.

If I had one wish in this world...it would be that not another person would ever suffer from a panic attack again.

"Hell on earth".

Hugs to you sister.

Panic Attacks

Gayle:

I used to have panic attacks, ironically always in medical situations. Started with my 2nd surgery (I've now had 6). Every time I had to see a doctor I would have an attack. Then it moved on to dentists, eye doctors, even when I got a massage!! (room reminded me of a doctor's office).

My doctor finally prescribed Paxil for me. I take 1/2 a normal dose (10mg instead of 20), and I have not had a panic attack since the day I started the medication. Wonderful thing, I will never give up my Paxil!!

I have felt instances since my surgery when I would feel scared and anxious (more than normal), but none of them turned into full blown attacks, probably because of the medication.

I hope you feel better soon. If it continues, please speak with your doctor!! You don't need to live this way...

Panic Attacks

I have suffered on and off with anxiety and panic attacks. I had a full blown attack the moment I woke up from my surgery until the day I came home. It was really bad. Once I got home and got settled in I did better. I asked the dr for something to help me get thru and he gave me some meds. I haven't had to take the meds all the time but it sure helped for the time I needed it. I think with the surgery it just sends your emotions and body into orbit so to speak. I feel alot better now that i'm 8 weeks out I don't have the panic or anxiety like before I agree that I wouldn't wish panic attacks on anybody they are not pleasant at all to experience.

panic attacks

I too take Paxil 10 mg for panic attacks. I would have really nasty panic attacks, but haven't had one now for several years. what we finally figured out was that chocolate, pepsi, or peanuts seemed to trigger them. Reasoning....caffeine. Must have something to do with hormones too, because since my TAH,BSO in April of this year I can now eat a little chocolate without any problems! I did give up pepsi and peanuts completely and definately don't press the chocolate issue by overeating it.

Panic Attacks

2 weeks after having my ovaries out, I had the worst panic attack I've ever had in my 11 years of suffering with generalized anxiety disorder. This panic attack was followed by a syncope(almost fainting)and it scared the life right out of me. Thank GOD my husband was home at the time, as my kids were here. My whole body broke out into a cold sweat, head to toe, and my arms and legs actually gave way. It was the worst feeling in the world! I believe, just me I'm sure, that my anxiety has been worse since my hormones are so off. I just today, started using progesterone cream(all natural)to try and offset my estrogen dominance(that *I* believe I have)and to balance out my hormones. My dr says that women without a uterus don't need progesterone, but my naturopath says we sure do! If all we have is estrogen in our bodies, that can set up all kinds of problems, and anxiety/depression are just 2 of those listed! I'm not saying everyone needs to run out and start using it, but I am giving it a try! There is a book by Dr John Lee, and he talks about the side effects of estrogen dominance on the body, the stress is puts on your adrenal glands, ect. Anyways, I am hoping it will help me! If anyone has questions, you can e-mail me at sjkkb@cox.net, or private message me. I have learned an awful lot over the last few weeks about the benefits of progesterone and the negative effects of unopposed estrogen.
