Betadine suppositories? Smell? Rash!?!?!
Hello very helpful sisters,
I had a TVH on November 14 and have had an infection and pure misery.
Last week my doc. told me to start using betadine vaginal suppositories every night because I smell so bad! ick! sorry to be gross!
Anyway I used them about 3 times (horrible sensation putting them in with many stitches in there!) and now I am covered in welts/itchy rash. Has anyone else used betadine ??? Has anyone else had a rash? Does anyone else smell bad? Thanks for any advice, help. I'm not sure if I shoudl just stop using the or what??? thanks.

Betadine suppositories? Smell? Rash!?!?!
I had that horrible rotting smell for 7 1/2 weeks. In fact, I bought a SIX-pack of douche, and the smell stopped before I used any of it. Part of the odor I had was from a piece of flesh that got caught in the stitches. Gross, huh? The rest of the smell was from rotting stitches. I had to take Metronidazol, but my doctor never mentioned Betadine. I would stop using it, if it causes a rash.

rash can mean allergy
Whenever there is a rash, there is a problem. It is an axiom that I have heard from nurses. A rash can be totally serious, or not. The only way to judge that is to have your doctor decide. But don't wait. A rash can mean allergy, and allergy can get worse.
I had noticed that when I had blood taken and a bandaid put on that I developed a fiery rash from the adhesive. I had them use paper tape on me ever since, and specified that when I had my procedure.
A rash needs to be called in to your doc. Hope everything goes fine for you.

I know what you mean!!!
I too had that horrendous smell....I'm ending my 5 week and it finally has let up. So a little encouragement the fresher air is on the way. If you are still worried about it though call your Dr. no sence in going on like this if your that concerned. Found out what he says and go from there. Hope every thing goes well for you.
Your hyster sister,

Betadine suppositories? Smell? Rash!?!?!
Sams mom, Please check with your doctor. Could be an allergic reaction. I am allergic to iodine and break out and itch if someone comes near me with it. You could be the same and it will do nothing but irritate you... please check with your doc.
