breast tenderness

i had a vaginal hysterectomy in Feb 03. i sometimes get a hot flash here and there; some moodiness. In the past 3 months l've been experiencing very tender breasts about every 3 weeks for a week. i've also grown 1 1/2 inches since surgery. anyone know if this is perimenopause starting up? i am almost 46. am doing pretty well otherwise.

Hi Tammy Did you keep your ovaries when you had your hyst? Or did you have a BSO, and if so, are you on HRT? We'd need more information to be able to answer your question, but it does sound like you've got a little estrogen dominance on a cyclical basis.

Have you talked with your DR about this?

i still have both my ovaries and am not on any type of HRT or natural OTC medications.

Sounds like it might indeed be the beginning of perimenopause... are you also having night sweats? For me, that was another early sign.

You might want to mention your symptoms to your DR at your next appointment -- or make one soon if they are becoming bothersome.

occasionally i have night sweats and/or hot flashes. not very often. due for my checkup in october and i will be sure to let the dr know what is going on and get some bloodwork done. thanks
