Lifted the dog. . .BIG mistake ...hurting for a week now

I got caught in one of those instinctive situations. My 90 pound black lab had rolled in the mud and was running around the house. I tried to throw him in the tub. I didn't feel anything right away, but was sore the next couple of days. I went in for my 6 mo check, and the gyn said I was doing great. The next day I felt this sharp pain during a bowel movement. Since then (5 days later) I feel a sharp pain during bowel movement or urination. I've been taking a stool softener so there is no straining at all, and that helps. I also have frequent urination, pressure and pain in the bladder area when I sit. There's no burning or itching or anything like that. I have an appt with the doctor on May 30 to talk about HRT. grrr. I know I have to call her on Monday to talk, but I really don't want to go in again, nor do I like what is happening. http://www.hystersisters.com/ubb/smilies/frown.gif Have any of you heard of anything like this? I'm so afraid I've torn something or prolapsed something or whatever. Its not an emergency, cuz its staying about the same. I'm sure it can wait till Monday, I'm just sad dealing wtih it. I was doing so well . . . bethany (need hugs)

Dear Bethany, I really don't know what to say here. If you had only recently had your hyst, I'd say check with the dr. ASAP. You're already more than 6 months post-op, but you're probably still healing inside. If it gets worse before Monday, you might consider going to the ER. If not, and you are still having pains, definitely call the doctor. Hugs -------> {{{{Bethany}}}} and best wishes,

ah, bethany, that IS scary. If it was ordinary pillow police then usually it's simple swelly belly and sore all the time. We used to call this the dragons. But this far after surgery (January, right?) it seems that it might "just" be the pillow dragons. So, rest rest rest, maybe ibuprofen for pain and inflammation. And see if the doctor has some advice on Monday.

Thank you all so much. I'm really not doing the greatest emotionally, between this pain thing, some personal worries with my son, and the decision about hormones finally on me. <<myself>>!! Anyhow, I'd forgotten I even posted this. Just found it now. The update is: I was researchign the differences between cystitis and pelvic floor stuff. It occurred to me that maybe I just "pulled" the pelvis floor muscles and they were in spasm. I started doing 3 sets of 20 kegels each day, ibuprofen, & lots of rest. and the pain is really improving. Its only slightly there at the end of peeing, and not there the rest of the time. WHEW!!! Trish - pillow dragons is right. I think I'm through this one okay. And I won't forget next time. Hopefully. I'm going to keep up the kegels for a week or two if I can.

Woops. This am there was blood in my urine. The doc says I have a UTI. Never had one before. So now its 7 days of antibiotics. Oh well. Western medicine is great in times like this! What the heck did women do before antibiotics?

Bethany, they probably suffered through their pain, etc., just like we all did before our surgeries. I'm glad you got an answer. I'ts always a bit unnerving, not knowing what is wrong.

love ya,
