A matter of perspective

Today I was out shopping with my 11 yr. old daughter because she is leaving tomorrow for a 5 day backpacking trip. As I looked at her list and what she can't bring, I started to realize maybe I have it easier than I thought.

She will be hiking 6-10 km. each day in mountainous terrain (Canadian Rockies).
She will sleep in a tent at night with two other giggling pre-teens.
She must bring her used toilet paper home in a Ziploc bag.
She needs lots of mosquito repellant.
She needs mittens and a toque, just in case.
She will not shower the whole time.
She can only bring 2 pairs of panties.
She has a whistle (in case she gets lost).
They will purify water for drinking.
They can't bring a pillow.
Lord knows what they will eat.

Me, on the other hand.
I will be put to sleep. Oblivion.
I will wake up to women (and men)in uniforms at my beck and call.
I will sleep in a bed that is adjustable.
I will have my own pillow.
I can flush my toilet paper and may even have someone do that for me.
I will have heat or air conditioning as required.
Rather than mosquito repellant, I have avocado/cucumber skin lotion.
The hospital has hunky security guards (in case I get lost).
I can bring all the panties I like.
I can shower and may even have help.
My meals (I use the term loosely) will come to me on a tray.

We will both come home
We will both be tired and glad to see our own beds.
She will bring home her uterus.
I will leave mine at the castle.

The End.

A matter of perspective

Hi, I like your perspective. It does make the trip to the castle seems better, doesn't it? No pillow!! I NEED 2 at least.

I can't imagine the reason for only 2 pairs of panties though .

Best wishes to you both.

A matter of perspective

Great post! My youngest was at camp the week of my surgery. We felt it was better that way. She is a worrier and being at camp kept her mind of Mom. We shopped and packed together and it made us both feel better. By the time she returned from camp, I was at home and feeling some better. She needed to rest after a week of staying up late, so we have just been lounging around together. It has been great.
