Bladder Sling Mesh Trouble

Hi all. You can't believe the relief I feel reading your stories. I've been going through something very similar and feeling like a freak. My TAH was March 2 and after a week I had a would infection, after that I started to feel good - then I had a bladder infection, more drugs, and at six weeks I felt great! Then slowly I started to feel pain again but tried to put it out of my mind. Then the leaking started again. That lasted for weeks until I noticed bleeding and did an "internal" on myself only to be horrified to feel what I thought was the mesh. Surgeon was away and emerg people assured me that never happens and if it did I wouldn't be walking and would be a stinking pus dripping mess - which I wasn't. I was in lots of pain - walking and sitting were terrible. I was sent home with two rough antibiotics - the rationale being it was some kind of infection and told maybe I should check with the surgeon in a while . Thankfully I had made an appointment before going to emerg. So yesterday I went to the surgeon. It is the mesh and the stitches that have come through my vaginal tissue. Which needlesstosay is causing lots of vag pain, bladder pain and leg pain. As well, I am trembling all the time (nurse said it was because of the foreign body revolt going on inside me).
So I was offered a number of pain killers (which I cannot take orally because of ulcers) so I declined but I did take a prescription for a sleeping aid and with the help of ex-Tylenol and Celebrex I will get through the next two weeks until surgery "taking it easy". I have a family, job, house and yard to care for in the meantime. I'm sure you all can relate to how "easy" that is.
The surgeon warned me that I might leak again afterward. His response to how could I fix that was "let's cross that bridge when we come to it". I'm too young to be a urine-soaked recluse! So I'm assuming it means more surgery. I'm anxious to know anyone's experience in this.

I may be able to go home the day of the surgery - depending on what they find, how much I bleed and how bad the pain is. How long has anyone else stayed a the castle? Did you need help at home? I cannot take oral narcotic painkillers and want to try a patch. Has anyone else?
Thank goodness you were there. I feel way less freakish now.

Bladder Sling Mesh Trouble

Hi there!

Firstly, let me say there are no freaks on this site! You have been through sooo much and naturally feel like you are on your own, and, while I have not had a mesh myself, I too have read some heartwarming stories from other sisters who have been what you are going through. I am sure you are not alone!

Thank goodness you were able to get back to your Dr and get a correct diagnosis. Please take it easy over the next couple of weeks, the chores will have to take care of themselves!

Good luck! Blossom
