pre-op suggestion
Hi ladies. When I had my laparoscopy, the (I assume) shaved me "down there" I woke up with aweful razor burn. This time, I am doing it myself. Less to worry about post-op. Suggestion: use man's shaving cream, leave it on for a min. or so to soften the hair, make sure you use a brand new blade, and shave in the direction that the hair grows. Just some thing less to have to deal with. Hope this helps!

I asked if I would be shaved for the LAVH and A&P repairs I'm having and she said that I might need a trim but no shaving necessary. I am trimmed now, so I assume I won't need much - and if I thought they were gonna shave me I would do it too because of that razor burn

NO NO NO
Unless you get permission in advance to shave yourself, DON"T!
There have been members who have shaved themselves then had their surgeries postponed because of it, due the worry of nicks, which can be an avenue for infection.
They don't always shave patients, even with vaginal hysts.
So once again, unless you get specific permission to shave yourself DON'T!!

Shaving without teh Itch!
I shave "down there" for cosmetic reasons and a long ago boyfriend (who was a Navy nurse) told me to put a bit of Neopsporin on the area after shaving to prevent itching.
I'm happy to say it works like a charm.

I already did shave, I hope that doesn't hinder any thing! I am having a laparoscopic vaginal hyster, so I know I will be shaved. My surgery is Wedn, and I have an apt with my Dr. on Mon. I won't shave again till I talk to him on Mon. Thank you for the tip! Neosporin!! Great idea. I did find an cream call "Tend skin" before that worked really great, but then realized if I just shave in the direction of the hair that I don't get the razor burn. I'm sorry to have given "bad" advice to anyone! I'll let you know what my Dr. says on Mon.
