Post-op Endometrial Ablation

Hi,
I would like to know how any one who has had an endometrial ablation is doing after the procedure. I had it done on July 16th, and I had a very light period 2 weeks later. I have not felt good since I had it done. I am tired all the time and have no energy what so ever. I do exercise, I go to Curves 3 times a week, but today I was just too tired to go. Also, do they normally give general anesthesia for this?, because it really made me sick.

i had general anestesia and had a hard time with it. i bled/spotted for three months it wasn't pretty. so much for "you will be fine in 3 days" it took a long time to be ok after it.

Post-op Endometrial Ablation

Hi:
I did great after my Novasure procedure in 04/03. I had bleeding afterwards, but it turned out to be a urinary tract infection from the catheter! Yes, I was put out for it, but had no bad side effects other than a very dry mouth and throat.

The ablation worked for about 4 months. After that, my periods came back with a vengance. I found out that these procedures do not work very well if there are fibroids present. (I have 2, one submucousal 5.4 cm and one intramural 2.1 cm). A fibroid-free friend of mine had it done with fantastic results--no periods anymore! I think it has a 95% rate for fibroid-free friends.

Good luck, you may want to get your thyroid and iron levels checked if you're so tired still.

I have one fibroid, the size of a small grape. They did test my thyroid and made sure I wasen't anemic before the ablation. I guess if I don't feel better soon, I'll give my doc a call. I also have a friend who had the ablation done 5 years ago, and she has not had even a light period since. I have a feeling I'm not going to be that lucky. If I start again with all the bleeding I had before, I will probably opt for a hyster.

Dear julebug:

Here is a link to an ablation website where you can find more women who know first-hand about the procedure and recovery http://home.att.net/~endometrial_ablation/

I hope you are feeling better soon. I am sending huge cyberhugs

endometrial ablation

I'm still in pain from an endometrial ablation I had 2.5 weeks ago. My doc did a hysteroscopy, D&C, then a NovaSure ablation. She said I'd have cramping for a few days and could resume all activites, including weight-lifting, as soon as I wanted since she was not making an incision. Based on what my doctor said, I thought this would be no big deal and I'd be back to normal within two or three days. So I'm surprised and annoyed that I'm still in pain, tired, weak, can't lift wights, can't have intercourse, and can't even go to my office 24 miles away because I feel too light-headed to drive that far! Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I wish I had gotten a hysterectomy instead!
Thanks for "listening,"

I had my ablation done on 02/22/05. I have had a light period since and now the cramps are coming back along with back pain. I am opting for the hyster myself as I have several fibroids but they're not that big just symptomatic...
