salvia test results, estrogen dominate...progesterone..maybe estrogen pellets

Well I went to a hormones specilist ..all he does is treat women in menopause ,He was with an ob group here but went out on his on as he said he was tired or seeing women suffer in menopause..anyway he did a salvia test on me and here are my results.. estradiol 7.4...normal range 1.5 -10 Optimal is 1.5 -3 if on estrogen replacement..progesterone 71..postmenopause 25-100...ratio progesterone/estrogen..10 which is low..normal 50-200.. testosterone 74 high normal is 20-50...dheas..11.0 high ..normal 3-10...cortisol 11.4 high..normal 3-8.... When I took the test I had lowered my estrogen to 1 patch a .1 climara patch I had been on one for 2 days prior to the test..he wants me to use progestrone (compounded ) for twice a day for 15 days a month..and also suggested pellets he said they are the most natural form of estrogen and the most steady form without ups in down in level while on it.....WHAT do you sisters think and what are the supplements that also help balance hormones...Im supposed to be on 20 mg progesterone cream a day..My have been very bad brain fog..and feeling drugged when I wake up in the morning and of course a little anxious...thanks ahead for all you help and suggestions...Tina

Hi Tina

I hope you find the help you need with your new hormone specialist! Having someone knowledgeable about prescribing hormones is a great start to finding hormone balance.

Some ladies on this site have used hormone pellets and have been happy with them. Hopefully they will post to share their experiences. Here's a link to previous discussions on hormone pellets.

Progesterone made me feel sleepy when I first started using the compounded kind. Mine is the same strength as yours and I use it twice a day, too. I use mine each day of the month, though. It sounds like you will be cycling yours. My dose is 0.5ml twice a day.

Here's the link for the Necessary Supplements While Taking Estrogen. Standard disclaimers apply - run the list by your doctor to be sure it's all safe for you.

Let us know how you're doing after you've been on your new hormones for a while, okay? I hope you will have good news to report!
