Hysterectomy with Hernia Surgery

A week and a half ago I had a hysterectomy and two hernia's repaired. Both hernias were incisional - a small old one at the end of a very long appendix scar that I've had since I was a teen ager. The new one (softball sized) just popped out a month ago just beside the huge vertical scar I recieved in October 2003 when my right ovary and a very large cyst were removed. The general surgeon said that he could not use mesh to repair the hernias due to the hysterctomy surgery - increased risk of infection.
I was given a large binder to wear for a month any time I'm up. Unfortunately I've very tender skin that releases histamines so quckly that I get hives from the binder in no time at all. I've tried extra layers under the thing while I have it on, and both cortizone creams and benedryl gel when it's off. Any other suggestions?
I'm also still experiencing a lot of nausea (no vomiting) and digestive tract upset. Anyone else with these problems? Suggestions?

Hysterectomy with Hernia Surgery

HI jastehle, I'm sorry but I don't have any good suggestions for you on the binder problems. Have you told the doctor this is happening? Maybe they can suggest something that will help.
Take care, and I hope you can get this resolved. I know how uncomfortable hives can be.
Take care!
