uterine prolapse ????

O.K. ---I had my pre-op yesterday and I saw on the sheet that I have "uterine prolapse:. I do not mean to sound totally dumb but my doc never told me this. What exactly is it? I have heard the term on the sight before but never with a definition. Thanks-

uterine prolapse ????

Lesa, I do believe that was very helpful, how else to put it I have no idea. I don't have the rectocele, but all the others as well as the small intestine so yes when I asked that was how it was described to me. So Tlynns that is what it means not maybe all the technical words and mumbo jumbo but the short version. When I was told that my stuff was coming out of my vagina I was amazed, but then why would I be we pass children through there, during that time I never thought about other things that can collapse and come through as well. Technically all the ligaments and support that holds our uterus, bladder, rectum and all that other stuff in there give out stretch and weaken causing everything to head south. Good luck and it will all be fine.

uterine prolapse ????

I've had uterine prolapse for many years. It is when the pelvic floor no longer supports the uterus. The ligaments that hold up the uterus stretch and the uterus moves down into the vagina and as the ligaments stretch further, the uterus comes down further until eventually the uterus can protrude through the vaginal opening. This is something I've had for 12 years and have finally reached the point where a TVH became necessary as the ligaments are starting to tear. I have my surgery on Sept. 14th.

I hope this helped a little. I wish you the best.
