Has anyone had part of thie vagina removed?

I had a TAH in March but kept my ovaries. At that time, I also had a resection done to my rectum and part of my vagina was removed due to endo. Since the surgery, sex is uncomforatble. I feel like I can tell inside where they sewed my vagina back together. There is a spot that is still very sore. The surgeon said it would take 6 months to a year for things to heal completely. I am hoping the soreness is just from that and that the endo is not coming back. Has anyone experienced the same feeling? I don't see my Gyn until November.

: )

Yes - alot of women experience pain or discomfort when they start to have sex again. Tho I note u're a March princess - maybe u r still healing inside? What did the doc say when he examined u?

Many of us have repairs in the vagina as well as the hyst. I'm March 13 princess and due to granulation, no sex yet. But we did do 'the act' a couple of weeks ago, tho very very shallow. The rect repair felt like razor blades - a comment I've read many times on here.

Yep - we sure can feel where we were operated on can't we?

Sounds like u're concerned about the fact u're still sore in one particular place - phone your doc and tell him your concerns - don't wait until November. And if he tries to stall u (like mine did) please stress that u want him to 'examine' u and find out why u're still sore in one place. Then u'll know for sure won't u? : )

I had almost an inch of my vagina removed due to endo. The first 6 months after getting the green light were sore and tight. But my GYN told me the more you have sex, and make sure you use lots of lube, things will stretch out.

Take it slow, and remember LOTS OF LUBE.

I'm now almost a year out, and sex isn't painful anymore.

thanks

Thanks. I don't feel so alone now.
My surgeon had told me a few months ago that lots of sex would help the granulation tissue heal. It's hard to take his advice when it's so uncomfortable.

Wow what a contradiction of advice.

I'm NOT allowed to have sex until my granulation goes away totally!

Ohhhh it's so confusing - but I guess we'd both better do what our own docs say to do : )

Gees I think I'd bleed badly if I had sex - I've had enough of that!

Good luck princesses.

granulation

When I was bleeding from the granulation tissue they told me not to have sex. Now that I'm not and haven't for a while....he said there is only a little bit of tissue left and that sex would help to get rid of it.

resection

I might have to have a ressection due to a very redundant colon.. Can you please tell me how the recooperating time is?? I had a colonscopy, laproscopy and am getting a Upper GI tommorrow just too rule out any other problems with the bowel. The other two tests revealed the redudant colon and my GI doctor seems to think that is what is causing all of the left lower stomach pain... Any information would be appreciated, kris1975

RECOVERY

Kris,
My recovery was longer than usual. I developed a rectovaginal fistula, which is very common, after the surgery. They removed part of my rectum, part of my vagina and my cervix and uterus. The rectum and vagina healed together and caused leakage through my vagina. I wasn't able to eat by mouth for 6 weeks. I'm not trying to scare you. I'm sure your surgery will not be this drastic. It took me about 3 months to recover. Doc said it is usually 6 weeks. I don't know what a redundant colon is so I don't know if you will have the same surgery. Good Luck.
