weight gain or loss??

Ladies, I am three weeks from having my hysterectomy, I have fibroid tumors, one very large one,,Only the uterus is suppost to be removed,,Can anyone tell me have you experienced any weight gain (i hear this is a problem after a hyster.) or any weight loss ( i was hoping for this) since removal is involved..I have gained lots of weight over the last year (not sure if it is due to this tumor or not) but am hoping there is no more weight gain in my future.....I think it would be great if the dr would offer a two for one and give us some lipo and tummy tuck while he was in there taking us apart,,,lol we could recover and look like a new woman...Maybe I will suggest this on surgery day,,,h aha
trying to keep a good sense of humor about this whole thing
Please reply with any info you can give thanks

weight gain or loss??

Hi zraven,
I am 7 months post op after having a TAH, with one ovary removed. My surgery was due to a large chocolate cyst on the one ovary, and severe endo over most everything else, so my situation is different to yours.

I have not experienced any weight gain, but initially, you will lose some muscle tone. After surgery, you can gradually re-introduce the activities you are able to do. Walking after is highly recommended, but for other activites, it is best to talk to your Dr. at the 6 week check up. Everyone's recovery is so unique due to the reasons for surgery, and your fitness level before etc.

Hope that makes you feel better. Not everyone gains weight after surgery, but again, it is probably highly individual.

weight gain or loss?

After surgery, I lost a few pounds. I have since gained them back and I am working to lose them plus more! Weight has been a struggle most of my adult life, so it's not related to the surgery -- just poor eating habits. I'm within five pounds of my pre-surgery weight!

weight gain or loss??

Hi Zraven,

I also had my uterus removed only.

I have not gained any weight since surgery and I was normal weight going in.

What I "gained" was my health back!!

Best wishes.

I lost 15 pds after my TAH but I had infection and gastritis after surgery. I have gained about 5 pds back - which I am not happy about! Good luck to you!

weight gain or loss??

Hi!

I had a TAH/BSO, and I'm on HRT, so my situation is a little different, but I weigh the same today as I did before my surgery over 2 1/2 years ago.
