weight gain questions

i had my tah 6 weeks ago. i have been trying to get back on track with eating right, but it seems i am just gaining and gaining. my ovaries were left so i don't think it is a hormal thing. i know when going through menopause your metabolism can slow down, but i don't think that's it. has anyone else had a gain that still has ovaries?

weight gain questions

Hi,

Sorry you are having weight problems. I didn't keep my ovaries, but have struggled with weight after surgery.

I think our bodies are trying to adjust from the trauma of surgery as well as the metabolism issue.

I think exercise helps a lot , at least for me it has. The diet can make a difference, especially with the white carbs.

Hang in there. You are still early post op and you're still healing and the body is busy with trying to do that at the moment.

I have had the same issue, and I kept 1 ovary. I guess the trauma of the surgery might have somthing to do with it, but I am also getting older, and my metabolism is decreasing. I thought I might just join a gym, maybe the extra exercise will help.

weight issues

I read somewhere that after menopause if you still eat the same and get the same activity that your body still will need 100 to 400 less calories a day. That doesn't sound like much, but it is a couple of pieces of bread less, or one serving of meat less.

I really get frustrated when people say it is aging. I weigh less not than I did when I was 30! My aunt who is in her 60's is in the best shape of her life.

But I also decided I would not like to just keep getting fatter, so I have increased my exercise a lot-cut way back on refined carbs and take vitamins.

I have lost over 50 pounds in the past two years-and that was with lupron shots to induce menopause, and with my hyster over 2 months ago.

Give it time and patience, but start doing as many positive things now as you are able -you will feel better and recover faster too.
I have been going to the Y for a year now, and have lost 40 pounds since I started going there. But I do some form of aerobic exercise every day for at least 40 minutes, so it is hard work and time consuming. I have lost 8 pounds since surgery so I know it can be done.

Please don't get discouraged, if I can do this anyone can. I have been fat my whole life with occasional less fat times. I finally am not fat and feel great!

Can you come be my motivator. You seem to be doing really well and with your positive attitude - it makes me want to do better.
