I read somewhere that after menopause if you still eat the same and get the same activity that your body still will need 100 to 400 less calories a day. That doesn't sound like much, but it is a couple of pieces of bread less, or one serving of meat less.
I really get frustrated when people say it is aging. I weigh less not than I did when I was 30! My aunt who is in her 60's is in the best shape of her life.
But I also decided I would not like to just keep getting fatter, so I have increased my exercise a lot-cut way back on refined carbs and take vitamins.
I have lost over 50 pounds in the past two years-and that was with lupron shots to induce menopause, and with my hyster over 2 months ago.
Give it time and patience, but start doing as many positive things now as you are able

-you will feel better and recover faster too.
I have been going to the Y for a year now, and have lost 40 pounds since I started going there. But I do some form of aerobic exercise every day for at least 40 minutes, so it is hard work and time consuming. I have lost 8 pounds since surgery so I know it can be done.
Please don't get discouraged, if I can do this anyone can. I have been fat my whole life with occasional less fat times. I finally am not fat and feel great!
