estradiol

Hi,
I'm post-op 1 year and I've been on 1 mg of estradiol since then. My 1 year check up is coming up next month and I'm wondering about my lack of sex drive. Is it normal? I enjoyed sex before my hyst. and now I could give a rip. Also I take my hrt in pill form but I'm wondering if a different deliver system ie. patch is better or more effective. Other than the sex drive thing I feel fairly good with the estradiol, although I do have trouble sleeping some nights. Anyway, any thoughts would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

estradiol

Hi Betsy

If you feel well on your Estradiol other than your sex drive, you might want to leave that part alone. You might want to have your doctor check your serum level of free testosterone as you may need to supplement with that to get your libido back. Low thyroid levels can cause similar symptoms so you might want that checked as well. Also, some women feel better when adding progestrone to their HRT regime. I know for me it helps me have a better night of sleep.

Read some of the articles about progesterone and testosterone in the Hormone Article List for a better understanding about these hormones and what their role is in our well-being.

Happy reading! I hope this helps.
