ovaries still in shock

I'm almost 3 weeks post-op LAVH and ovaries are still in shock. As a result, I get the joy of hot flashes, terrible headaches and an emotional mess! Doc says if they aren't working in 3 more weeks, he'll give me something. Any suggestions for natural remedies or anything else I can do that might jump start them? I'm scheduled to go back to work in less than a week and am panicking at the thought. Any sage advice is appreciated.

P.S. How do you insert the Smilies in a post? I click on them and nothing happens.

Hello,

I am a week an a half post op and I don't think my overies are working either as I am having hot flashes, dizziness and crying for no reason. Did your doctor do a test to find out if they are working (or is there even a test to do)? Or do they just assume because of the symptoms? I am due for my two week appt on Thursday and Dr told me after surgery that they would go into shock and should start working by two weeks. Now I am wondering after reading your post how they know. Does your Dr think they will start working or is it just a guess. I hope all goes well for you!

Go to your local health food store.
A friend of mine is taking flakseed and black ____ I want to say licorice but that might not be right.
The employees at the health food store will know.
I hope you feel better!

Jessee,
I guess it's just assumption based on symptoms as mine did no test -- just asked if I was having hot flashes and was disappointed when I said yes. Said he hoped they would kick in before he next saw me in four weeks. Hang in there. They tell me they will but would appreciate any info anyone has.

ovaries still in shock

I am 3.3 weeks PO from SAH. My ovaries went into shock and I had horrible hot flashes while in the hospital until a few days ago. Then they suddenly quit. I am still having some night sweats.

I hope your *girls* awaken soon. It's awfully unbearable to being feeling rotten already and then be sweating and heart palpating all day long.

Hi Sperca,

I have seen some Hyster Sisters recommend soy products, like soy granola. Also evening primrose and black cohosh.

And...I think it is a good idea to check with your Dr. first before you try any natural products since you are newly post-op.

Best wishes.

I agree ~~ even if it's just an over the counter remedy.
A product that is all natural doesn't mean it can't be harmful. There can be ingredients in something you get that can interact with other medications you are taking or could cause an adverse reaction to a medical condition you have - this includes products you ingest or apply to the skin and are absorbed. What works for one person may not work for others.
