Shoot! Dog jumped on my tummy!

*cry*

My DH let our doggie in about 2 hours ago not realizing that I was unprepared for him to do so...

He yelled "the dog is in" *right* as the dog jumped up on my stomach....*cry*

It hurts so bad now I could cry and it's become quite a bit more distended since this happened. It just shook with pain afterwards for quite some time b/c I just was totally unprepared and I didn't have myself braced for it at all...

I'm out of pain pills...I've taken Advil and Tylenol and they're not helping at all....

I hate to bother my doc. on the holiday weekend...but do you think I should call?

They've told me I should be totally off of any prescription pain meds. at this time, and I'd been doing really well until this happened.

My surgery was 8/23 TAH/BSO.

Shoot! Dog jumped on my tummy!

Hi! I am sorry to hear that you are having pain.

Your post caught my eye because the same thing happened to me the other day! However, it was my cat and he only weighs about 15 pounds. I screamed loud enough for the whole neighborhood to hear!!

I would call the doctor and let them know what happened. Who cares if it's a holiday weekend---SOMEONE is on call!!

And take it easy for a day or two.

How much does your dog weigh? I am hoping you aren't going to tell me he's a St. Bernard...

Hi Deb in Portland. No, he's a Manchester Terrier, he weighs about 22 lbs. though. It's that he was excited and jumped up on me w/his paws that hurt.

OUCH! I'm so sorry to hear this!

I have a greyhound and I had to constantly be careful to keep him from jumping up on me when I was standing.

I hope your husband is VERY careful now about letting the dog in!

Shoot! Dog jumped on my tummy!

My doc told me no more pain pills at my 11 day cath/staple removal.........where do they get this? I was barely able to get off the couch. I have been through a major surgery where I have been cut open. I am having to rely on the few pills I was given and my heating pad. I would die to be able to lay in the tub and soak and I have never been a "soaker".

I am sorry your dog nailed you. My DD ran into me last night.......OUCH! Things have got to get better fo us

I'm soooo sorry that happened to you. We have dogs like that too, so exuberant and don't know they're full-grown dogs and not puppies. I have made a point now of really watching my stomach and pelvic area around them even though I'm four weeks postop.

They *really* poked me good several times when I did still have my huge uterus and fibroids and wow, that hurt, too, especially when they landed right on a hard fibroid.

I hope you're feeling better now. If you have any questions about how you're feeling, just call your doctor. They won't mind your calling with questions as you need them.

Oh my! I may be late to answer but yes, please call your doctor for advice and pain meds. Or go to the emergency room.
I have a 100 pound dog. When I came home from the hospital my step-daughter entered the house first and put my dog on the enclosed back porch because I knew she would be VERY excited to see her "mommy" after a 4 day absense. Well, I came into the house and my dog was SO excited she got up to run to me and slammed right into the sliding glass door!! (she forgot it was closed).
I felt so bad for her! Thankfully she has a thick head and it didn't even phase her!
But, that could of been me instead of the door! yikes!

Hope you are feeling better!

Shoot! Dog jumped on my tummy!

Well.....I feel like a wimp! 4th day post op, I was all laid back in the recliner watching dh play with our toy poodle. As of this date he had not been able to jump on the furniture, but guess what???? Yep, he zipped around the living room took a flying leap and landed right in the middle of my abd. The more I screamed the more frantic he got, wiggling and jumping trying to get away from me. Now he only weighs 6 lbs. but the initial impact made me very nauseated! Now he hasn't been able to master that jump again, but I am keeping my little tummy pillow over me EVERY time I lay back in that chair. Even when sleeping, it is my protector. Thank goodness he only weighs 6 pounds!Sarah
