Long time between LAVH and BSO?

Hi, ladies. I just had my ovaries and tubes removed yesterday, four years after my LAVH. I was wondering if anyone else had some time 'tween those surgeries themselves.

Also, has anyone had their Bartholins glands removed? I'd love to chat about that, it was the most brutal experience of my life! They were taken two years after my hysterectomy, and about the time I was healing from that we find an endometrioma & more adhesions. Tricky little disorder, huh?!

So, here I am at home, looking up some info on HRT. I got a big shot in the *** yesterday of estrogen. I go back for my post op next week, get the stitches out, and get me started on the daily hormone pill I'll be taking. I'll be 36 in November, dealing with endometriosis and fibroids since I was 19. I've got a sense of relief in me this evening, somewhere in there with my exhaustion and my need to read more about my options now that the ovaries are gone. I feel free of the horrid, failing things that held me hostage for way too long!

Today I will heal, and tomorrow I will think about beginning a brand new life, one that includes intimacy without pain, movement without consequence, full nights' rests, and other simple pleasures "normal" women enjoy.

I've also made the decision to change my OB/GYN, but that's a story for another post.

In light & love (and presently, some post-op owie),

Joy (WingedThynges)

Long time between LAVH and BSO?

Hi Joy,

I had my LAVH about 2 1/2 years ago. I just had more surgery in June to remove my right ovary, ovarian mass, and some adhesions. I still have my left ovaery (it has been wrapped in mesh to protect it so hopefully I will have it awhile longer or until I reach menopause.)

You might want to check out The Hormone Jungle for support with hormone issues and HRT. The ladies over there are very supportive and helpful.
