How fast do fibroids grow?
My hysterectomy is scheduled for Sept. l5th and I can't wait. I have some level of pain all the time. And the bad ones are getting worse. Does that mean the fibroid is growing? And yes, I'm nervous and scared but want it done. I have a very large orange size fibroid hanging loose with lots of fibroids in the muscle lining. They couldn't even finish the ultrasound-too painful. I love this site.

How fast do fibroids grow?
Typically, fibroids are slower growing tumors. However, mine grew from the size of a softball to 12lbs and 23 cm in about 3 years.
I myself had very little pain at all. No really heavy bleeding either.
Good luck with your surgery and I'll see ya on the other side

How fast do fibroids grow?
I don't think there is any hard and fast rule about how quickly fibroids grow, but generally they are slow movers.
Often if a fibroid or fibroids start growing rapidly drs become concerned because of the pressure and potential damage to other organs.

Hi Lynn,
Another Sept 15 gal....I have a fibroid, but I have no idea on its size...if she mentioned it to me, it must have got lost in my shock of the hysterectomy talk.

How fast do fibroids grow?
Mine grew and multipled significantly within one year. My first fibroid was found when I was 27 but it never caused me any problems. Over the years a couple more showed up and my periods became heavier than normal but no other real issues.
Then beginning in the fall of 2003 I started having significant cramoing during my period and the week prior, the bleeding became even heavier and there was a lot of clotting. In January 2004 I started having sharp pains in my left thigh and by June the lymph nodes in that leg became very swollen and rock hard. That's when I finally went to see my Dr. I have always been ridiculously healthy and hated going to the Dr. Not a very smart decision on my part, but since I am in the Hyster Sister confessional, there you have it.
My unterus was enlarged and there were now 10 fibroids, a couple the size of softballs...So they can grow very quickly

How fast do fibroids grow?
Impetious,
Interesting that you mentioned leg pain... That is what first happened to me. I have a lot of back problems (spinal fusion and spinal cord stimulator) so the immediate consensious was sciatic nerve inflamation radiating to the hip flexor. Now I know it was these aliens growing inside me.
