What are some estrogen patch names?

I was going to do some internet reading today about some of them and see what they say about side effects, etc.

My doctor says I can wear a patch for awhile to balance out my body after the surgery...I don't think I'm far from menopause anyway, so don't think I'd have to wear it for a long time. Not sure how that works, but I was already deep into hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, all that wonderful stuff.

I wrote down one, "Estrodial". Any others I can read about? Thanks!

Hi There!

Here is an HRT product list, that I printed out for myself to use as a handy reference:

www.rxstat.net/hormchart.html

I hope you find it helpful!

Estrogen patch

I've used the Climara patch since my hysterectomy on 9-24-02. I started off with the .05 dose, and after one year my doctor reduced it to the .025 dose (the lowest available). I've had no problems with it whatsoever, or with menopausal symptoms for that matter. When I go for my annual gynecological visit in a couple of weeks I plan to discuss coming off estrogen altogether.
In my opinion and from my own experience, the patch is definitely the way to go!

Good luck with whatever you decide!

WOW, thanks!

Got the names of 5 patches...thanks! Any advantages of the "natural" yam and soybean ones over the "synthetics"?

Estrogen patch

It's been two years since I read up on this subject. I do seem to recall that the Climara patch is made from yams or soybeans and I believed that "natural" hormones would be "better" than synthetic ones. That's strictly my unprofessional conclusion, however!

One other note on estrogen patches......I've been told that the brand-name patches stick to the skin much better than the generic ones. I never tried the generic ones, but I've never had a problem with the Climara patches coming off.

patches

Where do they go? Does the stickiness irritate your skin? Do they show?

Estrogen patch

You change the patch once a week. The thin, clear patch is applied to your hip/upper buttock area, and it barely shows.

Go to www.climara.com to find out more information about the patch.

Good luck!

I wonder if I've already been going through all the hot flashes, night sweats and mood swings if I will need to use HRT....I guess I'll ask that at my pre-op.

Hugs,

Mich
