Anxiety

Hi All!
I had my surgery Sept. 1st and feel great! I only had to spend one night at the castle, and came home the next morning! No complications and everything went well.
I am very lucky to have such a fabulous family who has taken such good care of me (DH and 3DD 16,12, & 8)! I am definately not regretting the surgery and am happy I finally got to have it done!
Soooo, why do I have this anxious feeling? It's almost like PMS (TAH Both Ovaries removed). I am worrying about everything, have this knot in my stomach, and am very CRANKY! I just want to scream, and feel like I am going to jump out of my skin!
I am on the Climara patch (1.0mg), but like some of the other princesses out there, they don't seem to stay on much longer than 4 days.
Any one out there feeling like this? Other than this I really am very lucky to have very minimal pain around my incision, and have plenty of energy!
I have been to the Hormone Jungle, but just wanted to see if any one else felt jumpy and not happy!
HELP!

Hi Cheri - I can identify with what you're experiencing, even though I was able to keep my ovaries - just had my uterus removed laparascopically on July 21st. I was staying with my boyfriend during my recovery and burst in to tears one day because his sweet little dog wouldn't eat her dinner!! I don't know what your circumstances were but my surgery was unexpected and, quite frankly, unwanted as I don't have any children. However, I wasn't given many options other than to have the surgery. I think my anxiety stemmed from the shock of having to have it done and the fear of not being up to returning to work (I'm a teacher) on August 9th. After any type of surgery, your body needs time to heal PLUS the fact that your body is trying to rid itself of the anesthetic and you're taking pain meds....it's really a combination of things causing the anxiety. I talked to my doctor about mine and he assured me that all of my feelings were perfectly normal but if they persisted long after the fact, then he would prescribe something for me. Hang in there Cheri....here's hoping for a fast and uneventful recovery for you!!

I'm with you! I learned from a nurse not too long ago, that our bodies AND mind tend to go into a "protective or guard mode" after trauma - like major surgery. How is your sleep? Mine has been disrupted for months. Our bodies went through a BIG traumatic adjustment. In addition to trying to balance HRT I finally asked for help and was prescribed Paxil to help relieve some of the menopausal/anxiety symptoms. I tried handling "the attacks" with xanax - which works in the short term, but not to be considered long term. Ask for help when you need it.

Thanks for your kind replies! I had a planned surgery due to extereme bleeding. I am already taking Zoloft for unrelated depression, and am off pain meds because they made me too fuzzy. I only take a 600mg Motrin 2x a day if I need it. I see my Dr. on Friday, so I will ask about re-evaluating my hormones as well!
Take care of yourselves!
Thanks for taking time to respond!
Cheri
