Fine Friday Sept 10th

Good Morning BEST Friends

I can't believe I'm the one to start todays post? Wow, that hasn't happend with the sun out in a looonnnng time. Today is a "fine" day here in South Jersey. The sun is out and is promises to be a fine day.

Getting ready to eat bkft: probably cereal with milk. Lunch will be a salad with tuna and dinner is something made with ground been I defrosted yesterday.

The boys have been up and out early and barking their heads off at nothing every 5 minutes, lol. Boy do I need a coffee about now (haven't had coffee since before Xmas).

Meeting with a realator today with DD to see a couple of places that she might be interested in purchasing. Perhaps her dad and I will "invest" and rent out to her. We need the tax deductions, lol.

You all have a wonderful "Fine Friday" and I'll be checking in later.

Hugs - Melissa

P.S. Tamara, you have a wonderful heart. Hugs to you. The "boys" I refered to are 2 toy poodles, males, that my DH and I adopted just this week. They were in an abusive/neglectful situation and they look the worse for wear. But their getting better each day. Bless you and your DD.

Fine Friday Sept 10th

Melissa,

Smile and wave towards Philly this evening and I will wave back. We are making a very quick trip east for my brother in law's wedding on Saturday. The MIL has promised that she has selected OP items from the menu for me - a nice vegetarian plate for the rehearsal dinner tonight and some sort of chicken and veggies for the reception tomorrow evening. Good thing because food on the road today and Sunday will probably be less than optimal. Of course the males of the house all want Philly cheese steaks (gosh I LOVE those things!) so we are bringing a cooler to bring some back for the DS who is in college and unable to attend. I sure hope those cheese steaks end up in DS's stomach and not mine when we get back!

Have a safe, happy, OP weekend everyone.

Fine Friday Sept 10th

Hi gang --

Life has been crazy around here........but I'm hanging in. Weighed myself at the old gym on Wed (the one with the digital scale that I like -- I can't believe the new gym has the old timey scales in the ladies dressing room, bummer -- guess I'll just have to break down and buy a digital scale) and am still below my panic point, but need to drop somewhere between 3 and 8 lbs to get back to my original goals (goals because I started with one, and when I reached that one, set another one 5 lbs less, and got there.......but haven't seen that one in quite a while!! It's really hard for me to maintain that 2nd goal of 140, but 145 is manageable). And I know that to some of you, that amount seems like NOTHING, but in some ways, that last few pounds is my biggest challenge. Sometimes I wonder if my goals are unrealistic and my body is trying to say "hey we like it here at this weight........leave us alone!!"

Anyway yesterday was rather stressful as I took my mom to her doc appt and then out to brunch (I was OP -- cup of veggie soup, half a turkey wrap, some cucumber relish with a delicious light poppyseed vinagrette on it) and then she wanted to do some shopping. Her first remark upon getting in the car (now remember, I haven't seen her since May because I was in NY) was "if Ivan is coming here I think you should STAY HOME!!" HUH?!?! We're leaving for Texas on Mon and it looks like we'll get out of here just in time..........she is the only person I know who has told me she thinks I should stay here!! I asked if she'd rather have me in the house if the trees decide to come down on it, then in a motel in Texas somewhere. :hair:

Today I am headed to the dentist and coming home to bake some pork chops and attend to some packing details.

I'm really lacking in the exercise dept these days, but doing better on food and staying OP (a reversal of the usual me).

Plan is to go to tomorrow......I have been walking Brandy every morning and evening except for last night when we had torrential thunderstorms.

Melissa -- my pooches wake me up every morning at 6:30 -- they're better than an alarm clock. That's when the first schoolbus comes thru the neighborhood and they know it. So I understand. What are the poodles names? I know with the you're giving them they will be happy and healthy. Good luck on hunting for a new place for DD.

nervous nel -- oh man a Philly cheesesteak. How long has it been since I've had one of those (too long!!) Enjoy your weekend!!

Gotta

Hugs to all --
Ann

Ok Lisa, I've never had a Philly Cheesesteak! Sounds like I'm really missing something, I may have to correct that next time the opportunity presents itself. Have a great time at the wedding. It's nice of MIL to prepare food with your needs in mind!

Ann, yikes. Get outta Dodge, lady. Is your Mom a little bit scared herself? What a traumatic time for all Floridians, and anyone in the path.

Melissa, you are one strong lady. No coffee since Christmas? That's awesome. Sending love vibes to the new babies at your house!

Today brings a bike ride, some errands, and a little bit of trim painting. I think supper will be soup, a really good salad, bread or crackers, & cheese. Will make iced tea as soon as I get off the computer. I'll play some of the kid's music (Pink, this time) to get me hopping. Love the beat when I'm working around the house. Can't wait for my pedometer to arrive, though I do NOT think I will like what it has to say. Still, that'll be a good motivator.

Hope you all have a wonderful Friday & have some fun this weekend!

Hi everyone!

I've been reading but not posting. Yipes - I was lurking!!!

DD is safely in Germany. Of course it was a tearful goodbye, and then a very worrisome time followed as her trip was rerouted and she ended up in Paris, France rather than Munich, Germany. She finally had a chance to call yesterday afternoon, much to our relief! It's going to be a wonderful year of study and many opportunities for her. Who knows, we may even figure out a way to fly over for a visit!

Usually when we take her back to college we fill a minivan with her stuff. She and I packed essentials and got it all in two suitcases, one carry-on and her purse! That's for a year!!! Amazing how little one can manage on when necessary.

Eating has been a bit off but not horrible. I would have done way worse in my previous "nervous eating" life. Exercise has been lots of walking.

Welcome to the newcomers to BEST and anyone who is lurking and thinking about joining in, do so!

Good morning from Indiana

The sun is up and I am shining!

Yesterday's has me feeling energetic and ready to face the day with a positive attitude. I'm actually looking forward to my next trip to Curves which is tomorrow morning. Maybe I'll go more than three times a week.

I'm going into the Big City today for my second LA Weightloss appointment this week. She's going to look over my menu and see where I can make some changes. It's kinda hard figuring out all the rules, but I'm sure I'll get it down after a week or so. I'm "diet savy" at the ripe old age of 36, I've been on every diet out there so the lingo is familiar. My sister on the other hand, age 40, has never been on a structured diet so she is having a hard time. Good thing we have cell phones!

Menu for today:

Brekky: Diet bread/toast w/butter, orange, nf plain yogurt w/splenda

Snack: LA Lite bar, peach

Lunch: PB&J sand made with diet bread, lf pb, sna jelly & celery

Snack: LA Lite bar, apple

Dinner: Grilled chicken, steamed broccoli & mushrooms

Water: 3 sippers @ 32 oz each for a total of 96oz

Have a very happy Friday all!!

Fine Friday Sept 10th

Happy Friday ladies! Today is a Curves day for me to be followed by an OP day with alot of water day. DD is home for the shower weekend and things will be buzzing around here soon. I am nervous but excited at the same time. Not sure if I will post over the weekend but I wish everyone a happy one. This is the 3rd anniversary of 9/11 and many of us will be remembering what we were doing that day. I was on a plane heading for Hawaii and never took off. My fear of flying intensified that day and continues on. I hope and pray we never have another such time in our country............

Emily s for everyone but most especially our Florida sisters!

Fine Friday Sept 10th

Hi BEST s. Today is the last day of my vacation, and I'm planning on enjoying it: the sun is shining and it's nice and warm... just the way I like it!!!

Today will be another OP day:

Breakfast was Low Fat Cottage Cheese and Low Fat, Sugar Free Yogurt
Lunch will be some type meat with vegetables
Supper will be Filet of Haddock with veggies

I don't know if I'll have an opportunity to exercise, as my bike seat is completed saturated with water. Maybe a nice long walk this afternoon will do the trick. And it should help get rid of the arthritic pains in my knee, thanks to all the humidity we've been having.

DS is doing ok with reducing his food intake and I'm proud of him: I know that it must be hard for him!!!

((((Ann)))) I agree with you that you need to get out of Dodge!!! Enough is enough!!! Could your mom be afraid? Was it a hint that she'd like to get out too?

((((Donna))))) How stressful it must have been, knowing that your DD's plain was detoured to Paris. I'm sure you must relieved that she's now safely in Munich. Kudo's on doing not too bad on the food!!!

(((((Emily))))) I remember how concerned we were about you, as we knew that you were supposed to be on a plane and there was such uncertainty as to how many planes were involved. It's a day we won't be forgetting soon

Fine Friday Sept 10th

Good morning everyone, sounds like a busy time for you all. Have a wonderful healthy weekend and I will be looking in on Monday morning.

Today is my new start as you know, lunch will be a salad and dinner will be pork chops on the grill and lots of veggies. Hope to get lots of water in today. Work late so exercise is out for today but will have the weekend to work it in.

Will be praying for all the Florida girls, enough is enough. And a soulful rememberence of 9/11 tomorrow.

Thank you all for being here for me- tomorrow is LA weigh in-will be happy with staying the same but watch out, next week will be so so much better.

Fine Friday Sept 10th

Good morning ladies!

Well I was so bummed out after yesterday's weighing and measuring - not sure if you read my post late yesterday or not - I think I was the last person to post. So, anyway, last night I went to weight watchers and am starting the program today.

B - oatmeal with 1% milk and splenda; coffee with ff creamer
L - tomato soup and salad, water
D - chicken and veggies

I am trying their new Core program so that I don't have to spend so much time tracking points - the leader thought that this might work the best for me. So, I've got my fingers crossed for positive results!

Sounds like everyone is busy this Friday. Have a great weekend!

Kay
