anyone else have trouble with bcp?

Hello,
I'm on my 12th day of low-ogestrel for peri-menopausal symptoms and not feeling well. I have anxiety just barely under control all day long. I was trying to get off Ativan that the docs had prescribed to me earlier this summer but don't think I can because now because of this anxiety. Docs put on bcp to level me out. I'm leveled out but on overdrive. In addition, I have insomnia and nausea. The docs want me to stay on this at bcp at least another 2 weeks-2 mos. I don't think I can. I'm seeing a GP today and will ask about cutting dose in half or changing pills.
Recently took a 1 month leave from my job to get this strightened out but don't know how if that will be long enough. Any suggestions....I used the vivelle dot and felt better on the lowest dose but I still suffered from intense anxiety and insomnia.

Thanks again for all you do.....it's rough out in the jungle.

ativan

I am one year and a half off of valium. I became addicted through prescription and it cost 18,000.00 dollars and much suffering to get me off. My concern is for addiction. Please see if there is something else you can use that is non addictive. Drew

Hi Maddy

I'm sorry that you're having such a rough time finding your hormone balance.

The hormones in the birth control pills you are taking may be more than you need. I wonder, since you felt better on the lowest dose of Vivelle but still add anxiety and insomnia if maybe you'd do better to go back to it and add in some progesterone? For many of us progesterone can help with anxiety and also helps with sleep!

Here are some links to articles about progesterone: Progesterone Benefits, Progesterone: Do I Need It? and Why Progesterone?.

I hope you are able to work with your doctor to find the right HRT for your needs. Hang in there! It sure can get better.
