1 1/2 years since TAH inc/ovaries and new pain

It has been 1 1/2 since I had a TAH to remove everything including my ovaries due to severe endo. I was doing so well until about a month ago. I started having some pain again in my abdomen and during intercourse with hubby. I am so frustrated and mad that this has happened again. I thought ridding my body of that evil pain by getting rid of it all would make it all better and it did until now. Has anyone else had a TAH with everything removed and experienced this? I have a doctor's appointment this week on Thursday to hopefully see what is going on. Fortunately I have a wonderful doctor that will take the time to ensure that we correct the problem. I am only 25 and am having all of this happen to me again. I know that I probably shouldn't get upset that this is happening again but I wanted to see if anyone would let me know if this has happened to them and what was wrong so that I can get a heads up on this problem.

Thanks for letting me vent :hair: and thanks in advance to those who reply to my post.

HI

Hi there,
Is this pain totally new? I am 13 months post-op, and have had pain since surgery, a pulling, bruised feeling. I also had everything removed due to endo and cysts. I believe what I have is scar tissue. But for you, if this just started, I doubt that is it. Are you taking any HRT? From what I've read, the estrogen in that can cause endo to grow again. I am not taking HRT for that reason. Anyway, good luck at the Dr's, and let us know what he says.

Yes - new pain

This is new pain - just happened this month. First of all, I am new to the abbreviations so I am not sure what is HRT - I assume hormone replacement therapy so if that is the case - then yes. I am currently on Cenestin and also a depression medication to regulate the intimidation and overwhelming feelings of stress that I get that I didn't have before the hyst. I am just at a loss for words about the pain being back. I just want it to be gone for good. I was doing so well and not having any probs. Why now??? I am currently finishing up my senior year of college and also working full-time and I have 1 daughter by God's good grace in the midst of all my problems and only 9 months before my hyst. I have enough to deal with without having these other issues. I am just frustrated and I am sorry that I am venting. I just like that there is some place that I can tell it all and others understand what I am going through. My husband is supportive but he just doesn't understand and it is hard for me to explain it to him.

Thanks for the response.

1 1/2 years since TAH inc/ovaries and new pain

HI
I WOULD DEFINELY ASK THE DOCTOR TO DO AN ULTRASOUND
A YEAR AFTER I HAD MY OVARIES REMOVED DUE TO ENDO, ADHESIONS, ETC... I STARTED HURTING AGAIN AND IT WAS THE SAME PAIN I HAD BEFORE I HAD EVERYTHING REMOVED
COME TO FIND OUT, I HAD "OVARIAN REMNAT SYNDROME", THE DR HAD LEFT PIECES OF OVARY IN DURING SURGERY AND IT TOOK THAT LONG FOR THEM TO ATTACH TO AN ORGAN, GROW BIGGER AND START FUNCTIONING AS A REAL OVARY, AND DUE TO IT STICKING AND THEY'RE SURE THE ENDO AND EVERYTHING IS BACK I'VE GOT TO HAVE ANOTHER SURGERY THURSDAY TO DO EXPLORATORY SURGERY TO HAVE EVERYTHING REMOVED
I'M NOT SAYING THIS IS WHAT YOU HAVE, AND I DON'T WANT TO UPSET YOU, BUT IT'S SOMETHING THAT I WOULS DEFINETLY CHECK INTO BEFORE IT GETS ANY WORSE

HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER AND GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR APPOINTMENT

to Hyster Sisters ((((lbaten))))) I'm so sorry that you found us because you're dealing with this new pain this long after your surgery

Hopefully your doctor will be able to shed some light as to the cause of your pain. Hopefully, it's not the endo monster rearing it's ugly head. While I've never had to deal with endo, I've read that endo can produce it's own hormones, even after ovarian removal. Furhtermore, in some women, taking HRT (which does stand for Hormone Replacement Therapy) can also mean that the endo keeps growing after the hyst. For additional information on Endo/Adeno, here's a link to our Endo/Adeno Resources Library

Another possibility could be that you are dealing with adhesions. Once again, while I do not have any experience with adhesions, I've read that many of the Hyster Sisters members deal with this other monster. Here's a link to our Adhesions Resources Library for additional information on this condition.

Of course, your pain could be caused by something completely different, including, possibly, Gastro-intestinal issues: since about 5 months post-op I've been dealing with several abdominal pains. These pains are not cramps and tend to be cyclic. Since I've kept my ovaries, and the pains are exactly where my right ovary now resides, I was sure that my ovary was the source of the pain. Turns out that my pain is caused by bowel spasms. When they're flaring, intercourse can increase the pain, or trigger a flare.

Sending tons of s your way. Please do keep us posted.

Hi I am new here and was reading your post....you are so very young ...you sound strong and asif you have a positive attitude...I had my uterus remobed when I was 35 ....I am now 44 and last yr had tubes and both ovaries.....and bilateral mastectomy due to breast cancer for the second time in a 3yr span.
You still have a sex drive after having your surgery....wow that is great...!I dont have any desire for sex at all.are you having hormone replacement therapy? I cant have that because of cancer..I hope the Dr can give you some answers and relief about your pain!

Hi (((bbutterfly)))) and to Hyster Sisters. I'm so sorry you found us because you're having problems since your latest surgery. I does sounds like you've been through a lot in the past three years or so

The lack of libido you're describing could be due to the lack of hormone. While I can certainly understand why your doctor is not risking having you on traditional Hormone Replacement Therapy, have you asked about the possibility of using natural products to help with the symptoms? This might be a feasible course of action for you

Whatever the decision, here's a link the No Hormone Desert Oasis message board where you'll find others, just like you, who either can't take HRT or have opted to not go that route: http://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/for...php?forumid=34

Sending tons of s your way and hoping that things are improving for you.

Thanks for the response

I actually have been bumped up on my doctor's schedule and will now be seeing him tomorrow. I am kind of glad that it got moved up so that I can quit worrying what this pain is about. Well, I hope that I can at least find out what is going on. I am hoping for the best anyways. I have read many postings and heard stories about this and it just seems so awful that even after a hyst that this could still be a problem for some women. I am just frustrated that this is a major problem along with others in this group that are dealing with so many other issues. I can't believe that this type of disease can control so much of our lives. I will keep you all posted on my condition tomorrow if I know and I wish all the best for everyone suffering through anything of this sort and other reasons. There is no reason that we should have to experience this and I will keep you all in my prayers.
