need information

I had a tah 1/03. I did some research about hrt and started taking herbs. My Dr. refused to speak to me because I refused to take synthetic hormones. I found a new Dr. and started taking bioidentical hormones 3 months ago. I really don't feel good now. I have brain fog, my breasts are huge, swollen and very painful and I have put on a few pounds. The pharmacists are working with me but I am very discouraged. I always felt great while I was taking herbs but I thought bioidentical hormones would be healthier for me in the long run. Has anyone had any similiar experiences with this? Should I stick with this or take herbs again? I know it takes awhile to get your dosage correct, but I think if I hear about someone else going through the same experience, I will feel better! Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hi Susan

I don't have any experience with using herbs as HRT, but I have been using compounded bio-identicals for most of the 2+ years after my surgery.

The first attempt with Triest and progesterone wasn't successful. We gave that just over months. The next regime of Triest, progesterone and testosterone worked quite well for me but then, after dieting, losing weight and increasing my level of exercise I was out of balance again. I'm nearing the start of month 2 of my new attempt. I'm not committed to saying this is "it" for me until I give it a bit longer. I've had some unusual stresses this month and I do want to give this a fair chance to work right so I'm being patient. It is better than what I had been using so improvement is welcome!

You said they are working with you and that's very good! It's not an exact science and some trial and error is to be expected.

I hope you find the right combination for you soon!
