If you had already read my New Gyne gave me Testosterone 2% cream.
I tested low.
Ive had a struggle with my weight despite Atkins,Exrercising over the past 10 years since hysto as I have wrote here so often over the years.
This was the first time I was properly tested, well by BLOOD that is.Symptoms were always there.
Just wondering if it has an effect on my effort to loose weight? I knew I read a site from an Endocrinologist that said Testosterone played a key role in weight loss with post menopausal women.
Any help would be appreciated.
Well, indirectly, yes, testosterone can help. Here's how... testosterone, combined with weight bearing exercise, helps you build muscle mass... and muscle burns calories faster.
So... using just a little testosterone, and exercising regularly (ie raising your metabolism and working your muscles) can help you burn more calories. If you don't increase what you're eating, then you should be able to lose weight easier than before.
Another thing that can help, btw, is plain old H-2-O, water. In the most recent issue of Prevention Magazine, it stated that if you drink 2 cups of water, then 10 minutes later your metabolism will start to rise... and by 40 minutes later your metabolism will be 30% higher on average, and stay that way for over an hour. So... I'm drinking 2 cups of water every 2 hours or so during the day now. I figure, not only will it help me burn calories, it'll flush out more of the impurities in my body .... all around, a good thing
Good luck with your efforts at losing weight!
I know Im a little JIGGLIER since surgery.
My new Gyne is really nice.I got worried when I called for Testosterone Results & Nurse said Tesosterone was within normal limits considering I lost most hair down there ,no energy,CONPLETE loss of libido, and lacking something as myself I take that as my well-being???
So when I had my appt. yesterday the DR. said my Testosterone was LOW.
I said "Oh,really but over the phone nurse said....."
She said her & her partner take LOW NUMBERS IN NORMAL RANGE as need ofr replacement.SMART...THANK GOD FOR WOMEN DR'S!!!
I believe range was 1-22
I was a 2
She said nobody is a Zero
That I needed some Testosterone.
Perscription was for 2% cream to take everyday Indefinately!...From what I recall dont you start with more then work your way down to a few times a week Surferbabe?
Well Gotta go to work.
That's right... I use 1% testosterone. I started out with a pea sized blob every night for two weeks. Then I decreased to every other night. I stayed there for a loooong time (about a year)... then my level tested kind of high (though I felt OK), so I decided to use less. I now use it only once or twice a week and it still does the trick .
Testosterone is definitely a hormone where a little is good, and a lot is NOT better.
We are all different, and what works for one of us may not work for another. I don't feel well when I take oral progesterone or use the customary amounts of progesterone cream. I do occasionally put a dab of progesterone cream on my breasts, just if they feel tender at all... and I only do that because I had breast cancer earlier this year. But I have not been able to take the usual doses of progesterone... it makes me feel all the symptoms of too little estrogen very intensely.
