Angry - Not sure where to start? Not sure where to start?

Hi Everyone,
I found out 4 to 5 months ago that I have a prolapsed uterus (3rd degree), with cycstocele and rectocele damage. After talking with a few doctors and many friends and family I have decided to have a TVH. I turned 29 years old this last august and as i think about my surgery I am terrified that something bad will happen. I know there are risks and I can accept that but it is still scary. I am also scared of not getting the help I will need after wards since I don't know what to expect as far as pain and discomfort. My DH is taking two weeks off work to stay home with me and I tried, unsuccessfully, to get my mom to come out and help me. (We obviously don't have a close relationship but I thought a surgery like this might get her to come help me.) I also worry that depression will set in after the operation. I had post partum depression after both of my pregnancies but it was worse the second time around and I had to seek professional help to get past it. I already feel old since my boobs sag and I have more strech marks all over my body then I though humanly possible and now my insides are falling out and going to the bathroom is more pain than anything else and don't even get me started on my sex life. I told me sister-in-law once that even though I was done having kids I feel like part of my womanhood is being taken away or lost and although i know she meant well, she made my feelings seem wrong. So i have kept all my fears inside until now. Sorry to just unload but I am an emotional basketcase right now and had nowhere else to turn. Thank you for listening!!!

Not sure where to start?

to Hyster Sisters, Goolla!

Thank you for stopping by to introduce yourself! It's nice to meet you!

Don't worry about holding your feelings in on this website. You'll find you aren't alone in how you feel and expressing yourself can sure help make it all more bearable!

A good starting place for posting to get to know your new Sisters is the Pre-Op message board. Questions about surgery and what to expect can be asked there and you'll get replies from other pre-op ladies as well as post-op members!

Click the Hysterectomy Info link above the lavender bar near the top of the page and you'll see links for both Pre- and Post-Op Articles. Those will help answer many questions!

It's normal to have feelings of loss about your uterus and if you want, you can post on the Aching Hearts forum.

Be sure to discuss ahead of time your feelings of depression so your doctor is aware and can be prepared to help you.

Best wishes for your upcoming surgery! We'll look forward to getting to know you better on the other message boards!
