Sore Breasts

I am 9 days post-op TAH/BSO and my breasts are sore and tender, almost as when I had my cycle. Anyone experience the same? I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the estrogen?

I had that while still in the hospital. I didn't want to even mention it as I just wanted to be left alone. It lasted about 2 weeks. I had a SAH, but my ovaries went on strike for 3 weeks. I don't have any tenderness now.

I've read that the breast tenderness is estrogen dominance. (There's a great book called What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About PreMenopause by Dr. Lee.) It suggests using progesterone cream applied directly to the breasts.

I've found it very helpful, as my only real PMS symptom is very tender breasts.

You can order the cream here at hystersisters or pick it up at a health food store.

Definitely talk to your doctor about it to see if they can balance you out a little better.

not only were my breasts sore, they were also huge! if memory serves me correctly it started around week 3 post-op and it lasted for 2-3 months. even now, over a year post-op, my breasts will still get sore and swell (thats the best i can describe it) every couple of months...i related the experience, in terms of looks and discomfort, to when the milk comes in after childbirth; very engorged and bruised feeling.

I'm 5 months post op and mine are still sore. And, no HRT.

Thank you all for your feedback. At least I can feel like this is a normal thing and, it still beats the cramps!
