Drenching sweat???

Old as I am, (55) and not having gone through menopause, and barely ever sweating before - had a huge drenching pj/bed head to toe sweat for about an hour overnight on night 5 post op. (Dr. did put a hormone patch on me post op). I thought "Hmmm, this is interesting, not pleasant but interesting, the warmth (not the wet) was actually nice as I'm one to always be cold.

I saw the Dr. next AM for staple removal and mentioned it. He said is was not a menopausal hotflash but my body reaction again to surgery. All my energy and heat is being focused on healing the surgical site.

Anyone else have this?

Drenching sweat???

Yes, I have the same thing. One minute I feel fine and the next minute I'm ripping my clothes off feeling like I'm in a sauna. I'm only 43 and had a TVH and kept my ovaries so I thought I wouldn't experience hot flashes. But my doctor pretty much told me the same thing your doctor said. He said it's the body's reaction to the surgery. He also said that any trauma to the female reproduction system can cause hormones to get a little out of whack. And even though he didn't touch the ovaries, removal of the uterus and cervix is enough to upset the hormones. He said it's temporary and will straighten out in a couple of weeks.

Take care and feel better.

Karen
