cystoscopy

Any one have a cystoscopy, in office, with no anesthesia? My new urologist says he can do this and the discomfort is no more than being catherized. I had one years ago but was put completely under.

cystoscopy

Hi Cathy

I had it done in the office and it really was not to painful at all. It was over before I knew it. I also had cystogram done with no meds and that did not hurt either.

Hope you feel better soon!! Let us know how you do

cystoscopy

I had both done in office. I think that it really depends on what they find as to whether or not it is painful. Mine was extremely painful but I think it was because I have IC. Take some pain meds before you go and good luck.

cystoscopy

Now I always get the cystoscopy/cystogram confused..but I had the one where they put a cath up 'there' and put dye in there too (lovely shade of blue, if I recall correctly) and they looked around & I got to see my bladder on the 'big screen'..got to see the hole in my bladder too..it looked HUGE (of course it was quite magnified..)..

Anyway, wide awake for the process, somewhere between 15-20 minutes, no pain before, during or after....the odd little pinch similar to the 'comfort level' of a 'long pap smear' for me..but if I had to do it again, I'd take a tylenol first just to be more relaxed..(I don't know if tylenol actually relaxes me. I was so so tense..it may just be psychological, but given a choice, I'd take some kind of muscle relaxer or something if I was doing it again)

Not something I'd want to do often, but not painful for me.

cystoscopy

thanks ladies.....a bunch. I've been a little antsy about this, but your comments have helped! There is a possibility I have IC. I'll take something before having the procedure. I'm such a weenie with meds....one tylenol should do the trick. I'll let you know how it goes. My appt. is Monday 27th.

Thanks again!

cystoscope

I just had a cystoscopy done in my dr.'s office last week, and surprisingly to me, it was a piece of cake. I was dreading the thought of having a procedure done w/o anesthesia. The dr. said I'd feel a 'little pinch', but it was actually less than that. I felt the water going into my bladder and that didn't hurt either. Mine found nothing wrong, but I've had urgency issues and occult blood in my urine for years. I also had a kidney ultrasound that showed nothing.
So, the urgency issues are still there, but apparently 'nothing is wrong'. Interesting, huh? I'm wondering when I'll get my next "UTI", as that's what the frequent problems I have are always called.

cystoscopy

I had a cystoscopy done in office when my URO was dx'ing the fistula.
It was quick. He put some numbing gel on the external labia, and it was like being catherized, except EASIER. then they filled the bladder with saline, so the camera could see. That felt good!!!
He turned the scope around, and that pinched a little, but i watched it all on the screen, which was cool.

Then, he quickly withdrew the scope--no pain at all. and of course now the saline gushed everywhere, but hey no biggie. it's a URO's office--they're used to pee going everywhere.

You will be fine!

CYSTOSCOPY

I just had one done on Monday at my URO's office. It did hurt somewhat but I have a prolapsed bladder (cystocele). I have had pain and an achy feeling since then. He put me on 1 day of antibiotics. I go this afternoon to a gyn to discuss the repair surgery for my rectocele and cystocele. I am not looking forward to any more exams!!!

Good luck on Monday!!

Once again I want to say thanks to all of you. I'm still a little antsy......but your comments and encouragement have helped a lot! DH is going to go with me...he's really good about this sort of thing. I'll let you know the outcome.

Question - cystoscopy Results of Dr's Visit

I went to the GYn who will probably do my surgery. He examined me and says that I have a 4th degree cystocle, 2nd degree rectocele, and prolapsed uterus that also needs to come out. He said he would repair the rectocele even though it is minor compared to the cystocele. My bladder is literally about to drop out of me. He wants to do another bladder test this week to determine if I might have incontenence after the surgery. If the test shows that then I will have a sling inserted during the surgery. I will have all of this done vaginally.

Has anyone gone through any of these procedures.? If so, what was your experience? I am trying to determine how long I will be out of work.
