So Stressed out about wheather or not to get surgery!

I have heard good and bad about getting sugery and very afraid of getting it done and still being in pain and or having more problems due to the surgery.i had a scope in 2001 and the dr recommened a hysterrectomy i had a enlarge uterus full of blood vessels.i had a scope last month and it says nomal except the dr did'nt like all the blood vessels and i was a little prolasped.dr said he could promise no more periods.why can't they explain why i hurt all the time and what is causeing it!he says i could have forgot the name but he said the only way they would no is if i get my uterus removed first.i have pain all the time and during intercourse.sometimes its so much i lay in bed or end up in the hospital and other times its bothersome but i can manage i've notice its gotten worse with movement.its hard having 3 kids to take care of and having a scope saying i'm normal even though i'm not feeling normal!so no pain meds for pain except aleve or a trip to the hospital.any advice would help!

Hi Blondie,

I had a LSH because of large fibroids. I had pelvic pressure 24/7, bladder incontinence, where I had to run to the restroom on the hour and I felt sluggish and unhealthy most of the time. I was only 46 and I had no quality of life. My every movement was controlled by my fibroids.

I can ask you that question, Blondie. "What is the quality of your life??"

My hyst gave me my health and energy back. Not to mention I am fibroid free, no more aunt flows and no more b.c. My LSH is one of the best things I ever did for myself!!

I can suggest doing all the research you can on alternative methods and types of hysts. That way, you have lots of questions for your Dr. and you can then make the best decision for yourself.

Good luck. We Hyster Sisters are here to help if we can.

Blondie: I concur with historylady, even though I have not yet had my surgery. It all boils down to qualitly of life. I don't know what you mean by having a "scope" unless you mean something like an ultrasound, which could maybe provide some more answers. As historylady said, do as much research as you can, including checking on your surgeons qualifications and those of the hospital, etc. That went a long way in helping me to feel more confident in my decision. I'm looking forward to a much better quality of life. I wish you much luck in your quest for what's best for you.
