Bleeding/cramping 6 mo later and 11 and 12 months later

Is anyone familiar with this issue. I had a LSH BSO last Sept. for severe endometriosis. I'm on HRT (cenestin) and felt great until Easter when I had cramping and I bled for about 3 days. About 3 1/2 weeks ago this occured again but more painful and more bleeding. Yesterday it started again with bad cramps and bleeding. (like a light period) I went to my DOC the first time who said he didn't know why I was bleeding, but that there could have been some uturine tissue left behing that could be regenerating and we should wait and see and suggested one option would be to remove my Cervix. The next time the DOC said to double up on the HRT for a week. This got me too sick so forget that. I have an appointment Friday and I think he's going to again suggest I have my Cervix removed. Any suggestions or similar experiences out there? Please help!

Hi You mention that you had your hyst for severe endo... I'm unclear as to why your DR would have left your cervix and put you on HRT in that case. There is no dotted line that shows the DR where the uterus ends and cervix begins... endometrial tissue is commonly present in and around the cervix, and with estrogen from the HRT to fuel it, it's fairly easy to see how that endo would re-grow. Once it does, it starts to bleed monthly and can even make its own estrogen, further fueling its own growth.

What type of HRT are you on? Unless it contains progesterone or synthetic progestin, it's going to further fuel the growth of endo. Lupron or depo provera (anti-estrogens) can sometimes halt the growth of endo, but you'd need to stay on it a while.

IMHO you are probably eventually looking at a trachelectomy (removal of the cervix) and re-excision of endo, plus at least some period of time with no HRT, if you want to reduce your likelihood of further endo recurrences.

There's some good information on recurring endo in this link from our Resources directory:

I hope this helps!
