One week from today is the day!

Hi,
I am having a TAH Sept. 29th. I have been running around buying things I think I need. I bought a bathrobe for hospital, so I don't have to show off my butt in my johnny. Also, bought some new (larger) panties and some slipper socks. I bought a nightgown but I don't think I will be wearing that until after I am home. I went to Old Navy and bought some large sweatpants with drawsrtingas I am sure that is all I will be wearing for I don't know how long???? Then I went to walmart and bought some facial cloths to wash my face with, hand sanitizer, chap stick. motrin and tylenol. Can any of you tell me of anything that would be essential for my stay in the Castle?? The hospital told me to pack lightly and to wear loose fitting clothes the day of surgery. Any other suggestions? I am getting scared.....

Thanks,
Diane

One week from today is the day!

I hear you, I'm going in the same as you 29th in the morning. I too have packed and bought some Pj's with draw strings. I will wear them home with my slippers and anti slip socks for walks around the hospital ward. I've packed a book to read. I've also bought a cd walkman and burned some cd's to listen too, to help me relax and fall asleep. A few pads of your choice, as the hospital has those diaper sized old things most uncomfortable. Don't forget your toothbrush. Your own pillow is nice, they'res are horrible.also have packed a cheep watch, because they never have clocks in the room. This way I know when I will be getting med's according to the clock.I've had two c sections before and only used Tylonal 3's for pain for the first two days than reg strength tylonals. The only part that really hurts is coughing, sneezing, or laughing too much, and your very first walk/standing up. ANd it gets easier as the hours go on. Im having a abdominal surgery. But I hear that buying those ring pillows are great if your having a vaginal surgery. It seems to me also that the thinner you are the quicker you heal, and less pain you have. For those of us who are heavyier, the extra weight sitting on the scar is more painful, so for me I'm trying hard to lose as much as I can before next week, even if it is only a pound.

Good luck to you, try not to stress about it. You'll find that once its over you'll say, gee I got all worked up for that, it wasn't that bad. Well thats what Im hoping for, the second c section was much easier tolerated than the first, cause I knew what I was to expect, so this shouldn't be much worse than that.(im hoping)7 more sleeps, unless they reshedual again.

One week from today is the day!

I am also scheduled on the same date!!!

I am anxiously awaiting for next week to come so I can do my happy dance (although probably just with my arms) because I will not be having Aunt Flo come visit and stay all summer again!

Finally didnt bleed yesterday but started yet again this morning!

Can't wait to give old aunt flo the final boot and wave goodbye !!

Good luck to both of you and I will be thinking of all the other sisters here with the same date as I when I am finally rolled into the castle at 9:00 am.

Thanks for all the support, advise and information I have received.

Don't think I could have remained as sane as I have without this site!

I would love to keep in touch - but the only problem is I do nto have a computer at home I use the one at work at lunch or before work.

I hope to be able to visit the library at least by around week 2 post op so I can at least post again but we will see. If you don't hear from me don't worry. I will post as soon as I can to tell all how things are going.

Good luck on the 29th!!!

One week from today is the day!

I am also on the 29th. I had my pre-op today, so the papers are signed, and we are all set to go. I am anxious, but ready for it to be over. I haven't done my shopping yet, still working on my list. Taking your own pads to the hospital is a great idea, theirs are terrible!
I am thinking of all of you!

One week from today is the day!

Hello 9/29 Ladies in Waiting! I'm scheduled that day also!! I had the same questions on what to take to the castle and found out your mouth will be dry. One Princess recommended to find Aqua Mints. I bought some (at target or CVS) and tried them out today, not bad! I am going to take a book, but have read that alot of ladies in waiting took books and cd players but never used them b/c all they needed was sleep! Besides the normal stuff to take, I am taking big black drawstring pants trimed in pink down the leg, warm black socks, a nice black sweater and a pink tank top to wear under the sweater. My outfit is all black and pink!! Too cute!! I have to look good to be a new princess!! I'm going to ask my mom to get me a hooded black robe, but I would rather wear t-shirts and drawstring pants around the house. I also read somewhere to find those long tong things that pick up things u can't reach. I know Walgreens has them. P.S. another thing to bring to the castle is a jar of hard candies for the nurses, just a way to say thanks!

One week from today is the day!

Add me to the list of princesses scheduled for the 29th of Sept.!
It's so great to see what all of you are bringing with you while you're at the castle. Here's a question for you or others who have already been through this...which would be the better option: drawstring pajama bottoms (which I'm more comfortable with) or a gown of some sort? I don't know how often (if at all) you get checked, and I don't want to have to struggle with dropping trousers each time. If the nurses/doctors don't have to check much, then I'd prefer the pajama bottoms. I've only been to the castle to deliver 2 babies, and didn't stay long and it's been 13 years since the last one, so my memory isn't that good.
What's the consensus?

One week from today is the day!

If you have a abdominal surgery, the drawstring pants are fine, because they only check the stitches every now and than, and therefore they only pull the pant down a little. You don't have to bring them down to your ankles.Gives you back your privacy. And they give you more movablity when you try to get out of bed, since you have to roll to your side and drop one leg at a time ovr the bed. With the gown, your limited, and than it rolls up, and when you get back into bed it gets all twisted. I found this out when I had my c sections. Good luck, can't believe how many of us go in at the same time. Execllent
