New to site and So glad to find this website!

I hit the 2 week mark today of my hysterectomy -

I actually had been in so much pain that the surgery itself was not that bad. I did, however, have a urinary tract infection my second night at home, and what I thought was maybe because of that, ended up being night sweats - almost immediate (like 2nd night) but I wasn't sure that's what it was, until my 4th evening I had 2 hot flashes too! NOT FUN! The doctor started me on Aviane birth control for a lil bit. That has helped me almost immediately

Within one week, I actually drove the car and went to watch my son play football, but the next day I did way too much, and ended up back down on the couch, but more from a pulled muscle in my chest, and after a few days I finally went to the chiropractor and was out. Gosh, i'm trying to do lil things here and there cuz it's so hard to sit down and just watch the tv (something you think you'd LOVE To do, til you have to! I know I'm fortunate, because they didn't have near the trouble with the endometriosis as the doctor thought he'd find, because it was 10 years after being told I should have one, til I actually did and at that time, the doctor burned the endometriosis at the time.

Here I am at 2 weeks today - and getting kinda frustrated. I know I'm doing good, and I feel good, but then I end up back down again. I'm so ready to get back to my 90 mph life again

Well, it's so nice to find a place where other ladies KNOW what I'm talking bout and I look forward to reading up on stuff. I had peeked in here while searching for some info about the surgery before I had it, but now it's awesome to read up and KNOW what ya'll are talking about. Thanks for this site!

Hi Lisa

to Hystersisters!!! Great place alright!!!

I'm glad you're feeling so good but do be careful as it's so easy to overdo things in the early stages of recovery.

All the very best.

Hi Lisa and welcome!

The initial recovery period from a hyst is generally accepted to be around 6 weeks. It sounds like you may be trying to do too much, too soon. It is very important to follow your Dr's. instructions and restrictions and get lots of rest . I know how difficult this can be, as many of us lead a very busy lifestyle, but it can so be worth it if it allows you to recover without any complications.

Have fun exploring the site as there is lots of useful information. And of course, feel free to post your questions to benefit from the shared experiences of so many awsome women!

Best wishes and s

Hi Lisa,

I had my TAH the same day and know exactly where you're coming from. I was in a car accident two weeks pre-op. I totaled my car, sprained an ankle, had major bruises from the seat belt and messed up a hand, but it could have been worse. So I couldn't drive until last week and was going crazy. I had to stay out of work for a week after the accident, went back for a week and a half then went down again. I'm just waiting for my life to get back to normal. One good thing about the TAH is that my accident injuries are all gone.

The weather here (upstate NY) has been awesome for a change and I've been enjoying just stepping out into the sun and walking around the yard. I'm not one to watch TV anyway and daytime TV is the pits anyway. I know how you feel. Yesterday I had to take my daughter to school then to the doctor. Afterward we went to the grocery store. After that I was done for the day. My son asked me when I was going to do some real grocery shopping. My husband doesn't like to spend much at the store so he buys the very basic needs. He was off last week and was doing all the running around, but is back to work now, so I'm pretty much on my own during the day. My teens are getting hungry, but it's a lot of work to go to the store. I don't have a handicap sticker and can't see myself driving one of those carts you can drive around the store. I'd probably run someone over. I just want to get back to normal (whatever that is).

I hope all goes well for you. Take care.

Vicki
