Thank you's
Thank you all for all of your informative support. I forgot how much I loved being here
I have decided that I will NOT do the Lupron shots for 6 months. I just read an article that was a 3 part series in the Boston Herald regarding Lupron.
The woman after her first injection experienced major memory loss, herniated discs and major pain. She could not remember a conversation from the beginning of the day by the time her treatment ended. Very informative for anyone considering Lupron. Let me know if anyone wants the link to the archived article.
I do not understand why my Dr. only wants to take my ovaries out as a last resort?? I felt great after my TAH 3 1/2 years ago, why keep the ovaries if I NEED to go into full menopause.
Thanks again to all of you sisters that took the time to respond. If you have any other ideas let me know.

I felt this way too. I actually wanted to keep 1 ovary though b/cv I thought it would help me not need hrt at 32 yrs of age, but like I said my dr said He guaranteed the return of endo and ain if he did.I told him to take it then, I am so glad he did.
Glad you did your research on Lupron, more women need to know their health is in their hands and need to be involved in what gets done .
Hope you can talk him into just removing the ovaries when u tell him NO to the Lupron.Let us know how it goes.

Lupron Anyone???
Good luck to you. And if your doc won't do what you believe, in your gut, to be the thing you want done to your body, then get a second opinion. You're doing right by doing your research! Go girl!

Lupron Anyone???
Hi Tamara
I am always amazed at how different doctors opinions are when treating endo.
I was 34 at the time of my hytser for endo and my doctor would not even consider the surgery unless I agreed to have my ovaries out.
He said I would continue to have monthly cycles with my ovaries which would keep the endo active and therefor it would be a wasted surgery.
After my surgery I was not put on any form of HRT, because estrogen can also feed any remaining endo. I was put on lupron shots for 3 months after my surgery to dry up any remaining microscopic endo that may have been left behind. Then after that he prescribed estrogen.
I did not have any bad side effects from the lupron shots.
My sister who also has endo choose the lupron shots instead of the hysterectomy. She was on them for 6 months and all the pain was gone. Until she got her periods back and she is just as bad as before.
At the time I was not as knowledable about endo as I am now, but am glad we did what he suggested.
Glad to see you are doing your research, but maybe getting a second opinion about keeping the ovaries will help you decide.

Lupron Anyone???
I was given my first shot of Lupron Sept. 17th. When I got home I did some research and found some websites that told of many serious long term effects. Seizures, cardiac problems, fibromyalgia, constant migraines, joint pain, short term memory loss, m.s., arthritis, stroke, and severe jaw pain. The long term effects of Lupron are not known and have not been studied.
What I read scared me and I am not going to be getting the rest of the shots. I hope that anyone considering Lupron will do their research! For me the side effects have been: hot flashes, night sweats, constant migraine, joint pain, severe jaw pain (off and on), bone pain, nausea, and dizziness.

Lupron anyone?
It is a pretty serious drug. I was on it for three months and thought that I was losing my mind. Don't take it again. it is not worth it. Drew
