Pillows for LSH???

I wondering if anyone know if I would need to bring a pillow for having an LSH?

Pillows for LSH???

An LSH is still a hysterectomy, and your tummy will still be tender - you may not have as much swelling as someone who has an external incision, but I'd bring a pillow just to be on the safe side.

best wishes!

Pillows for LSH???

Hi Fidella,

I had a LSH as an outpatient so I did not bring a pillow with me to surgery. However, if you are spending the night, it sounds like a great idea!!

I do suggest a pillow for the car ride to-and-from.

And a small pillow is great in post-op, when you get home. I kept one between my belly and sweat pants for extra comfort when I was sitting down.

Best wishes,

Mary

Pillows for LSH???

Thanks you gals for the advice...I sure do appreciate it. All new to me.....but isnt it to all us.Any other advice would be gladly welcomed.I am thinking I will come home and be able to function on a close to normal basis. At least I am hoping to as I have a 4 yr old rambunctious son who has never been away from me for more then 8 hours.
Alright guess I better get going or this will turn into a book.
Thanks again everyone

Pillows for LSH???

Hi Fidella,

I am 5 months post op from my LSH and very happy with my surgery results.

I went home the same night from the outpatient facility, as I said. I think the big thing for me was just resting as much as possible the first two weeks in post-op. Napping, watching t.v and going on Hyster Sisters. Just letting the recovery process take affect.

I was back to most activities by 2 weeks and I got a greenlight for all activities (sex) at 6 weeks. I felt healing twinges off and on for about 6 weeks.

Also, I had a lifting restriction. Nothing over 15 lbs for 6 weeks. With your 4-year old, I could suggest as much help as possible. The no lifting means no lifting as I found out. And little people love to be held.

My two DD'S are 16 and 21 so I did not need to worry about lifting there. However, I have a 20-year old male cat. My "princess". I did not even lift him for a while.

I just found that in post-op it is best to go along with "caution" on things. If you have to say no...say no to an activity. It was tough for me sometimes since a LSH is a less evasive hyst and we LSH ladies can look great on the outside and we are still healing on the inside. A LSH is still MAJOR surgery for us too.

Best wishes. I cannot say enough about my LSH. I am SO glad I was a candidate!!

Mary
