Progesterone Only & Maybe Some Testosterone
Hi Sisters,
Ive made a decision that Herbs are too scary & I dont know if they would even work having no ovaries. Also toxicity & liver.
I have been getting bad nervousness & anxiety & know I need to do something SOON!
All I know is I have ESTROGEN DOMINANT symptoms such as Hypothyroidism,Sore Tender Swollen Breasts (for years),bloating BAD,fluid retention,no sex drive, joint pain,etc...
I feel adding this ESTRASORB cream in will just create problems for me.
I feel I need PROGESTERONE cream...I need to be CALM.
Im scared with the anxiety level I have.
Also My Gyne ordered me TESTOSTERONE 2% CREAM it came today.Feel I need that due to lack of Private Hair,Energy,& Sex Drive.
Sisters Is It Wise To Use Only Progesterone Alone Or W/Testosterone IF You Already Feel Like Your Body Shows & Feels All Signs Of Too Much Estrogen?
 Thanks Deedee

Hi Deedee
I'm glad you finally picked a doctor to work with. That's exactly what you need to do now - work with your doctor. Don't try to second guess what your doctor is asking you to try. I think it's wise to follow your doctor's advice. No one on this website is allowed to give medical advice and no one knows your medical history better than your doctor.
You aren't ever going to get the benefits of any treatment if you don't try and give it a fair try. Keep in touch with your doctor on how you are doing but follow the doctor's orders so you are giving the HRT a fair chance to work. If you're tweaking doses on your own you are probably setting yourself up for problems.
Good luck with your new HRT! I'm sure you'll keep us posted. It will help us all if you'll keep your posts on one thread so it's easier to follow your journey.

Personally, I found that testerone works best in combination with estrogen. In my case it acutally causes me to feel more nervous and shakey if the estrogen is not high enough. I also get more bloated and water retentive with low estrogen. I really hope it works for you.

(((Deedee))) there is a difference between estrogen dominance and too much estrogen. The symptoms you are describing when you are not on estrogen are symptoms of estrogen dominance. What that means is that in proportion to testosterone and progesterone, your estrogen level is higher... in other words, all your hormone levels are way too low but the testosterone level is proportionately lower than the estrogen - which makes sense, it's the way most of us would feel in natural menopause if we still had ovaries. I was perimenopausal before my surgery... I had night sweats from too little estrogen, but at the same time had sore breasts and bloating from estrogen dominance.
I have never used just testosterone; I get very severe symptoms on too little estrogen so I have not ever completely stopped using the estrogen. I think you would find that if you use just testosterone, you may go out of balance in the opposite direction as (((SweetRyn))) suggested, and get oily skin, facial hair, acne and feelings of anger and aggression. The estrogen and testosterone are best used in combination.
I have to go back to the advice that you have been given here many times... choose one DR you have trust in, work with that DR, give whatever they are proposing a try and give it some time. Don't second guess your DR, you are paying him/her to apply their experience to your situation. Nothing is cast in stone... if you try something and it ends up causing you to feel just dreadful, you can always stop, but if you never try anything, you won't find out if that 'right' combination of HRT's was just around the corner. Or already on your shelf.
Good luck!
 s,
-Linda

Progesterone Only & Maybe Some Testosterone
Thank You April Dawn,Sweet Ryn & Surerbabe
Surferbabe I must say you made Perfect Sense.
I just stayed away from hormones due to my symptoms.
Or I just blame this on my Hypothyroidism.
Although my Thyroid levels are not too bad.
Yes I have Estrasorb,2% Testosterone..and my Dr said I can buy some Progest over te counter if I want to take a dab at night.
I feel like I need Progesterone,it was Low too...VERY LOW.Lately I have been getting anxiety & panicky feeling which I have not had in YEARS.
But I kind of remember reading Progesterone Cream builds up over time....causing problems?????
Sweet Ryn what I dont understand is why would you hold more water retention without your Estrogen?
The truthfull thing is Hystersisters..I am taking care of my hubby..We found out this week he needs another CRANIOTOPY!!! 3rd thime they are cutting his head!!! In a year!
He will need anywhere from 6 months (doubtly 6 unfortunately) to 2 years off.I waitress my butt off to keep us going. And I will have to some more. All worth it for my Hubby!!
When he went back to work I figured I could tinker with HRT....But I dont know if I could put hormones off another 6 months to 2 years!!Hubby even said Deedee you shouldn't be messing with HORMONES now"...Hey its a scary thing...cant be moody with my job..or bloated..I NEED TO HUSTLE.I have a great job, make great $$$$.Been there 2 years. If I fail there will be somebody rite behind me to take this job.We have applications to the Roof...This is the Restaurant to be in the area I live.Great Steakhouse...PACKED EVERYDAY! "customers...waiting to get in" ha,ha,ha,lol...
He did go back to work for two weeks...but the infection is not going away...He will be having surgery Tuesday Oct. 5th.
Even though they took care of his Aneurysm & Clipped them last October....One small part on his left side of head is infected in the bone..Other than that his recovery is FANTASTIC! Even his Drs are frustrated & feel for him.
We have great Drs here at UIC in Chicago.
Sorry If I got off the "Topic" just hope it will explain my fears & anxieties on freaking out all the time with my symptoms & restarting HRT.
Thanks 4 Listening & God Bless.
Please say prayers for my Hubby Tues Oct 5th
Love,Deedee

Progesterone Only & Maybe Some Testosterone
Sure. My blood pressure goes up around 190/120. I have anxiety attacks and insomnia... I can lie in bed 2 hours and still be wide awake, mind going a million miles an hour and obsessing over stupid things. My head feels like it will explode from pressure and I get a throbbing headache across the back. I get joint and bone pain so bad I can't stand to walk... the worst pain is in my lower back and feet. My vision gets blurry. If I don't use vaginal estrogen, I get vaginal dryness. My whole body has sort of an electric buzzing sensation under the skin. But the funny part is, no actual hot flashes. Raising my estrogen level causes all those symptoms to resolve.
Hope this helps.
 s,
-Linda
