Just great! They gave me the wrong surgery date!

Well, I just called the hospital to give them some information and was told my surgery is schedule for the 6th and not the 5th as shown on my card from the Doctor's office. They said is was just a little error. I can't believe this! I'm calling everyone now to let them know. I mean its only one day but I feel like choaking someone. Has anyone else had any problems with their schedule?

I've kept up with the women who are having surgery on the 5th and It made me feel like I was not alone........ You'll be in my thoughts and prayers all day Tuesday. Take care and hugs to all.

Karen ,

I am so sorry you had a schedule error. That's terrible! Shame of them! But, don't worry, you aren't alone and everything will be just fine! I will be thinking of you and saying a prayer for you! Good luck!

Hi Karen,

That's terrible that they made an error, one day is a lot when you're waiting and stressing about surgery.

Don't worry, you won't be alone though. Us October 5th gals will send our prayers your way on the 6th, and I'm sure there are lots of October 6th girls out there as well.

All the best to you!

Hang in there Karen. My surgery was scheduled for 10/12 at 2:30pm. I didn't like the time, but regardless, was ready to forge ahead. Then I get a call that they have to change my surgery to 10/13 at 7:00am. Much better time and only 36 hours difference, but I was so psyched up for 10/12 I had to restart my countdown clock. If you can believe it, I got yet another call, but this time only switching the time to 9:45am instead of 7:00am. As cliche and corny as this sounds, the 6th will be here before you know it. Heck, the 13th will be here before I know it and you will be a week out of surgery by then!

Best of luck to you.

Karen --

It's maddening, I know. At least you HAVE a date. My Gyn told me that her scheduler would have a date for me by today, and if I hadn't heard from them, I should call. Well, I didn't hear, and I called. The scheduler didn't know anything about my surgery, so had obviously not contacted the colo-rectal surgeon to coordinate the two doctors' schedules. She told me she'd speak with the Dr. and call me back, and did...2 hours later. She didn't have the right paperwork, but said my primary care Dr. hadn't sent clearance yet. I'd seen HIM to get that 4 weeks ago. The Gyn was calling the PC all week, she said, but he hadn't returned her calls. They wanted me to call him...as if THAT would have more clout than another Dr. calling. SO, I spent all afternoon trying to get through. When I called just before 5:00, and made a lot of noise, I finally got a message relayed from his nurse that said he'd called the gyn....but not whether he'd faxed the clearance. SO....I called the gyn office again, and left ANOTHER message....and nobody called back. 2 months ago, the gyn was in a big hurry....and now I'm just hanging in limbo. It's making me crazy....and MAD! It took a lot of internal struggle to resign myself to HAVING all this surgery she said was so urgent. NOW, I'm there already....let's just GET IT DONE already...

Anyway, now I've vented.....Yes, I DO understand your frustration....and yes, I'll be praying for you on the 5th and the 6th both.

Grace & peace,

Terry

At least you found out before the 5th, think of how much worse it could have been if you had gone all the way to the castle on the 5th to be told then you were a day early.

I did this with my tubal (I even had confirmed the date by telephone 6 weeks before hand!) so I had to go home. I think I cried for 4 hours straight.

I know its one more day to wait, but that will go quickly & you will be ok.

Thanks for all the support ladies. The crazy part is when I called the hospital they put me thru to the wrong department and wanted to confirm my appointment for a look at the old colon. I told a friend I was going to put a post it note down there with an arrow pointing north / wrong hole!

Thanks to all and 's all around. Karen
