I am hoping you will feel better too

I have gotten so much information from these posts. Particularly by comparing my situation with others. Thank you.

I am in my fifth week and have finally turned the corner in my recovery process. Up until last week, I was experiencing severe abdominal pain on the left side. I even called the doctor to get more pain medication. I was beginning to worry that I had caused myself further problems with the surgery. Then, a few days ago I woke up and the pain had stopped. It popped up a little the next day, but was much better. I haven't taken pain medication for the past 4 days and am getting better everyday.
Still tire easily, but even that is much better than it was before.

I am so happy to be feeling somewhat human again. I wanted to post this in case anyone out there was feeling like I did last week. Don't despair. You can begin to feel better almost overnight. Just hang in there.

Thanks, I needed to hear this too. I know I'm just 8 days post, but good grief, I feel like an infant. I'm so sore, I can't do anything. So, tired can't do anything either--------------------and the gas!!!!!!!!!!! Oh my God!!!! I am not constipated though because I've done things I've needed to (thanks to this site). But, I feel so helpless. Laughing, sneezing or coughing is a real challenge.

In any case, I know it will get better.

Surgeries are different - bodies heal differently - sometimes additional repairs need to be done. Unfortunately there is no way to predict the future so there is no guarantee if you will or will not have any post-op issues or complications after surgery. Most times the healing process gradually happens. The initial recovery period is typically about 6-8 weeks but it can take many months to be completely healed.

Rest and get lots of pampring during your recovery.
