Simply Sunday 10 October 2004

Well, I still haven't been shopping yet, except for the basics, tea coffee milk bread etc. haha!
Got washing everywhere, slowly plodding through it all, will probably take me a week to get myself straight, and the house is still upside down, oh well.
Good Luck with that exam ((Toni)) How soon will you get the results back?? Hope you get a good nights sleep tonight, that is so important, and yet sometimes so elusive, Good Luck anyway!
Hi to all you Frightfesters. Maybe one day I will get to meet you all, but having a busy family, and one thing and another, its just not in my budget at the moment, sigh!
Billy is settling back in, I bathed him last night, cos DH wouldn't allow him in our bed smelling of the kennels, so a nice lean, clean Billy we've got now.
We've got some fab photos of Ireland with our new digital camera, that DH took, he's still tinkering with it, so it may be next weekend before I get to organise them onto the HS website. Got a niceish one of me at Crushoa harbour. If we can get the background right, you can see behind me that its unspoilt by time.
Foodwise, going shopping shortly, breakfast, we're finishing off the irish sausages. They are out of this world, everywhere over there is so healthy. The grass is so green and the cows look so healthy. No wonder they call it the emerald isle.
Lunch/dinner will probably be a roast chicken dinner. about time I made one myself. I've been spoilt the last couple of years, it will be nice to have a home cooked one for a change, after all the eating out we've been doing recently
Well, gotta go the washing machine has just finished, time to feed it again, lol.
to all who follow and lurk!
ps. ((BSQ)) nice one on the race!

Afternoon all ,
It was a case of famous last words yesterday .... " lazy weekend .." - quote by myself! We forgot England were playing yesterday so it was heaving in town as everyone was in early - so it took over 1/2 hour to find a parking space! We did our wander round town, I got 2 new jackets (One was a pressie to me - how nice!!), we decided on KFC for lunch before getting petrol and going home. We were already going home later than planned, when DS rang to say he'd got on the wrong train so instead of getting off at our village, he was stranded in the city 26 miles away .... ..... after going to pick him up, we eventually got home early evening so dinner was a very un-op burger and chips and missed most of the match!! (and ds has to wait another day for his special meal!)It could have been worse tho'... he could have got on the express train to London!!
Today I'm catching up on chores yet again. I got up late so missed brekkie (I know.. I know..) as ds had to go catch the train with his dad as they've gone to footie. Lunch has been a cheese and coleslaw sarnie ... and a packet of crisps. I haven't had time to do shopping yet and am saving the remaining fruit for later. (kiwi and banana). Shopping will have to wait till tomorrow now so I'll have to make do with what I've got!!
Frightfest sounds a real scream! It would be cool to meet up with everyone but my budget just won't stretch far enough. Maybe one day ......!
Fran - Am glad you enjoyed your holiday and had a good time. Ireland sounds just as I imagine it to be. (I'd love to go and see it in a horse drawn caravan.) The vision created with you playing swingball with your jeans around your ankles at every strike had me in tears!! Will we be seeing you on tv soon .... those dreaded home video shots .. ?! Laffs aside, I bet it will be good news from your scales tomorrow. The weather has been it's usual mixed bag here. Chilly enough to get the heating kicking in, rain, wind a threat of frosts I was told... It was torrential on Weds night, but been sunny yesterday and today .... typical autumn cold.
Sandi - congrats on losing that lb!
BSQ - :whoohoo: That must have been a fantastic day! Wow - what a turn out too!
Toni - Good luck with your exam. Hopefully you'll get a good nights sleep and be in tip-top form for it. s

Morning all
I am so glad that the Frightfest chicks are having such a good time. I knew they would ENJOY.
This is our Canadian Thanksgiving Weekend. We are having our Turkey tonight. My mom is making it here. It will be weird with just the 5 of us. My sister her new baby and hubby are going to her inlaws. They invited us but we thought with everything going on it would be nice if they got some time alone with their new addition. I plan on having a great day with some yard maintenance and reading so all is well.
Friday nights party with my dd was awesome the chicks went to bed at 5:30 am my dd was so tired yesterday but in good humour. She slept for 14 hours After her friends left we drove to see my MIL. She is so thin. IT is sad. But she gave my dd money for her birthday and so did my SIL we put some money in to and bought her a digital camera 3 megapixel. Pretty great gift for an 11 year old. It is so small compared to mine that we can take it some places easier.
I am doing very well with my lowcarb WOE. I think I may finally be in the groove. I hope so.
Emily I hope your tummy gets better soon. What day is the wedding? You must be excited.
Xena I had braces and my jaw moved. Weird syndrome. It now bothers me so I may need braces and jaw surgery. YIKES. life
Sandy yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee on the pound. I hate plateus.
Bobby that walk sounded amazing. I cannot wait for mine next September.
Dany Happy Thanksgiving
Musk sounded like you had a busy but great day. Enjoy your sons visit.
Fran glad Billy is clean and home. Sounds like you are busy to. We dont eat out often. A lot of our friends do but for some reason 9 money being one we dont. We are going out on Tuesday for my dds birthday. We are all so excited. It is such a treat.
Okay I am off
Take care
Katie

Ladies, Just a quickie as I am still not feeling that great. I hate IBS! Will be OP......no choice. Will drink my water and may try a walk later on. Sometimes when I feel like this, it is just better to wait it out. I hope you all have a nice day.
Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian gals and Katie...........the wedding is on the 6th of Nov.........27 more days.
Glad you Frightfest ladies are having a blast!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!! Hope you're enjoying your holiday!
Yipeee, great to hear from the Frightfesters!!!! What a beautiful part of the country for a fall gathering, too. Thanks for taking the time to check in with us!
Hey fran, welcome back! The after-vacation work is a drag but so worth it, right? Looking forward to your pictures.
Musk, you are so good humored! Yes, thank goodness he didn't go to London! Yuck on the rain & frost & chill. We dread turning on the furnace, seems so.....permanent. You know waht is coming. Guess we'd better enjoy the outdoors as much as we can while we can!
Katie, glad your chicks had a happy birthday celebration! And you survived it, too. So sorry about your MIL. It must be very hard to see those changes.
Great job on the low-carbing, it's hard to do. Enjoy your celebration tonight.
Emily, Sorry you are not feeling well. Forced OP isn't so much fun. WOW the wedding is almost here! It seemed so far off just a moment ago...Hope you're all better soon!
The school dance for dd went well last night, her group had a ball & danced the night away. And seeing them all looking so beautiful & grown up was something of a shocker. But there were no tears from me. Can you believe it???
We're meeting friends for breakfast this morning so that won't be so OP, but I will make decent choices anyway, and at home I'll do it right. I'm big on pop these days so I'll drink Fresca. About the only diet pop I like. Will get ouside for a walk or ride today.
Hope you all enjoy your Sunday.
BIG HUGS to all,
xena

Morning Gals! Hope you’re all doing well. It’s been a lazy morning having coffee and reading the paper. Is Vanilla Almond Special K new? I got a couple sample boxes of it yesterday and had one last night for dinner (along with a simple fruit & cheese plate). Pretty good, 100 calories and 1.5g of fat. The mini boxes don’t have the nutrition information so I can’t give you that.
Woke up a little sore this morning, but once I did my yoga routine and got moving the soreness is gone. I didn’t occur to me to do some yoga before bed last night. I bet that would have helped. I might do another 5k next month. Have to see what else is on my calendar first.
The rest of my day will be couch potato city watching football and baseball. Go Raiders! Go Braves! Go Dodgers!
Nice to hear the frightfesters are having a blast … like there was any chance it would be otherwise!!
Fran: post vacation chores just bite. I’m sure you’re getting quite the workout getting the house back in order.
Toni: best wishes for success going out your way!
Katie, Toni: Happy Thanksgiving!! Enjoy your day with your families and some yummy food!
Musk: hopefully today can be that lazy day you wanted yesterday!
Xena: None??? Well, have some tissues handy when you get the pictures back. Fresca … don’t meet many fresca drinkers … kinda like Tab drinkers, who are they? Fresca always reminds me of my glamorous Aunt who is “dus beyooootiful” .
Em: hope you’re feeling better soon.
To all: have a BEST day!

Hi!
We're back home at Melissa's...just finished a yummy dinner and met the rest of M's family.
We had a sunny drive home from Shirley's, gorgeous view from the Chesapeake Bay bridge with lots of sailboats out.
Shirley baked a number of gluten-free things so that we could sample what gluten-free baking was like. All were delicious, and I was particularly interested in what they might be like. She also sent us each home with a packet of info to read about being gluten intolerant. Even if we are not, it is such a good idea to learn about the condition/disease to be more understanding of other diets.
Can't believe that the weekend is about over - I fly home tomorrow -
Toni - since it's already tomorrow in the UK, sending positve thoughts as you prepare to take your exam - in fact Melissa & I will sit together and send them via telepathy (hmm - she doesn't know this yet!)
Em - are you feeling better?
BSQ - you are so wonderful to walk for the cure - hugs - Re the Vanilla Almond special K - it is a smaller serving size than the strawberry for I think 100 calories.
Katie and Dany....HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!
take care everyone...

Sunday Evening here.
I've been OP exercise-wise. As far as food goes, well, I've been OP exercise-wise.
BSQ -- Thank you for walking for a cure. My mother died of breast cancer 13 years ago, so your efforts have a special meaning for me. Where are you these days? BEST gals are always on the move, but I never know if you're posting from one coast or the other.
Frightfest sounds great. It's so sweet of you all to keep us posted.
Happy Thanksgiving Canadian BESTers!
Man, I'm tired! Went on a short hike between rain showers yesterday. Today was more catch up in the yard, and (FRAN TAKE NOTE) unpacking camping gear from LAST weekend's trip. Now instead of being in the van, it's all over the living room. Guess that's progress.

Hi BEST s Just a very quick note before I call it a night.
As a result of reading an article about Preventing Breast Cancer in the November issue of Canadian Living, where they mentionned that being active was one of the most important thing we could do to reduce our risks and that maintaining a healthy weight was important (the article can be found on the Canadian Living web site (I'm also submitting the link to the Resources Library), I've decided to make a very big effort of staying active. So, today, I walked to two convenience store, resumed my 90 minute walks to the store and even worked in another short bike ride to one of the convenience store. And I'm beat!!! However, I had the unexpected pleasure of seeing a majestic blue heron take flight, just a few feet from me, as I was walking!!! that was just awesome!!!
I'm still not eating very well, but I've decided that, starting Tuesday, I'm back on the Mincavi program, despite not being able to attend the meeting: it's PTA night!!! On the bright side, I'm drinking lots and lots of water and I know that this has to be good for me!!!
Happy Thanksgiving, (((Katie))), hope you're enjoying the holiday!!! Happy Frightfrest, you lucky BEST friends!!!
