Got the Pathology Report

Hi all,

Have you ever been happy to find that something IS (or was) wrong with you? I know it sounds a little nutty but I was so happy to find out that I had Extensive Adenomyosis after they biopsied my uterus.

Adenomyosis cannot be diagnosed until after a hysterectomy and the only cure is a hysterectomy. Sure they have signs and suspicions but it cannot be 100% diagnosed until after.

I did the right thing! My dr. said my life with improve, get this, significantly! Significantly. I can't wait. I can't remember ever feeling good for more than a few days. WOW.

Here is to getting your life back!! CHEERS!!!
Love

Fantastic, now you can move on

Yes, finding out it was not in your head, as some think is a great relief. Now you can move forward after healing with a nice comfortable body. Good for you, now you can relax.
I am very happy you have a good attitude, that will help.

Got the Pathology Report

I said those exact things to my doctor when she showed me my pathology report. It said I had extensive adenomyosis. I told her I was so happy to feel like I did this for a reason. She told me that having so much pain right before and during your period was reason enough, but it wasn't in my mind. I gave me a weird sort of peace about the whole hysterectomy thing to feel like there was a medical reason it needed to come out. Take care!

Me too! My pathology report showed scar tissue inside my uterus from one side to the other - actually connectig the 2 sides!! No wonder it hurt!! Yes - I was thrilled to know that I had made the right decision!!

I'm so happy for you!!

pathology report

As soon as I woke up from SAH my doc told me I had several fibroids, one the size of a softball. I then got the pathology report, it said I had adenomyosis. Maybe someone can enlighten me...my pathology report didn't even mention the fibroids, just the adenomyosis. I thought path reports had to list everything found?

Got the Pathology Report

Just kind of FYI,
I am no doctor but from what I have read on the message boards and read while doing some research: A hysterectomy is not a cure for endo. Endo likes to grow because of hormones and spread. Did they get all of the endo areas cleaned up during surgery? It can come back if you still have your ovaries or are taking hormone suppliments.

Someone else can tell you better than I. I have see some post that were on discussing Dendo re-occurance.

But other than that. I felt that urge to say "I told you so" to my one doctor of whom I had been complaining to for 14 years of my pain. (when I got my lab report after my hyst).

Got the Pathology Report

I, too, requested a copy of my pathology report and had my doctor explain it. After I looked adenomyosis up on the computer, I wished I had had my surgery years ago. It explained all of the pain and discomfort I've had for a while. And I did feel even more confident in my decision to have the hysterectomy. My doctor told me it was only a matter of time. So yes, it does make sense to feel a sense of peace when you get the facts about your health.
Think how good our lives will soon be!

Got the Pathology Report

I'm so happy for you that you can feel some peace at knowing that there was a reason for your pain. I can't thank my doctor enough for getting rid of my pain. I've had so many different types of treatments for it that I thought I would forever be that way but now I know differently and when I'm healed I will be all that much happier. I send you my big s.
