6 or 8 weeks back to work which is better

I know the initial healing time for recovery is 6-8 weeks and have read many posts advising the extra 2 weeks made all the difference in the world, I will be 6 weeks Friday and have had the norm as far as healing goes but still feel like I am not ready to meet the grind yet. Was wondering for those that took the extra 2 weeks was it really that helpful?

I went back at 6 weeks. I am 8 weeks today. I still feel as tired as I did in the beginning. I dont know if the extra 2 weeks would have made a difference or not. I think it just depends on your job and how you feel. Dont go back until you are ready.

6 or 8 weeks back to work which is better

Hi There-Well believe it or not-I will just be 2 weeks post-op on Wednesday & I am already thinking about asking my doc at my month check up if I can go back at 5 weeks. But everyone I talk to (who've had hysterectomies & who have not) tell me DON'T.
I wish I could tell you from experience; go for it & go back to work but I can't. I love being home but I find I get bored easily & try to do too much, too fast which is not good! But anyway-hope you make the right decision on returning to work. Laurie

Hi Howdy
I'm same day as you and at 2 weeks check up my Dr. said he wouldn't give me clearance for work till at least when I see him the monday after 6 weeks , he''l do internal and let me know , he's a very conservative Dr and doesn't rush anything so I'm trusting him also I only work 4 hrs a day M-F so it won't be like jumping into a full days work

Return or not too that is the question????

Hi howdy:

I am 5 weeks post op and I had the greatest day since surgury today. I went to the endontist with my daughter this morning then took her out for breakfast -came home made lunch, did a load of wash and then I had to take the same daughter to her regular dentist at 4:00pm - came home made leftovers and guess what? I am exhausted - I feel great but very tired. I can't imagine being at work and adding those extra activities in my day as I would normally do. If you have the luxury of staying home the eight weeks go for it. There is no return - I figure if they see you can walk and move around it is all over. Be kind to yourself - once your back there is no turning back ......Good Luck Mrs. Biz

6 or 8 weeks back to work which is better

Hi Howdy

I went back to work half-time at 5 1/2 weeks. I was exhausted all the time for about a month. I think 6 weeks is the minimum time for your body to start feeling "human" again. I wish I could have stayed home for another couple weeks. At this stage of recovery, every week seems to make a big difference.

If you can do it, why not?

6 or 8 weeks back to work which is better

I am at 6 weeks tomorrow and will be going back to work at a hospital for 3, 12 hour shifts this week. I have a very supportive work crew, but I am not looking forward to it. I also have an hours drive each way. Oh yeah, and we are moving into a new house this week. I have help packing and moving, but we all know how stressful moving is. So, I plan on meditating on all good things and take things as easy as possible. I have done extremely well in the recovery process, and I am not willing to go backwards due to my own Type A personality. If I could stay home, or work part time, I surely would. And get bored? No way... there is way too many things I would like to do.!!

Thanks ladies for the input my job is very demanding expidite the needs of a worldwide sales force as well as design team - these folks are relentless and the work is very fast paced - of course thats what makes us number 1 in our field. I am leaning towards the 8 week return as Mrs Biz just reminded me of just how these folks are - if they see me walk and move its all over with, thanks again for the suggestions!

Give yourself 8, if you can...

My doctor gave me 8 weeks and I will be at the 6th anniversary TOMORROW. In no way am I ready at this time...I tire very easily doing just one outing. I am grateful for the 8 and hope that will be enough because my medical bills are trickling in now...whoop-de-doo...PLUS, I am wanting to "get back into action".

But I plan to go slowly and ask for "light duty"...not sure how all this will go. One thing I can say for sure, you never know how it will go. If you can manage 8, take it. Better to be on the safe side.
