small details!

Hi guys,

My date is drawing closer, 10-27 and like everyone else I am starting to be in a panic...very touchy and senstive and argueing with anyone that disagrees with me. But that is not what I am writing about...I am going to pamper myself before going in, and am getting a pedicure in a few days...should I not have her put on colored nail polish? I never thought of this until now...somewhere i read that the staff needs to see your nails, hands and feet.
Also, I notice alot of you brought nightgowns to the hospital, isn't it just easier to wear the hospital gowns since we are being poked and prodded so much? All my friends and family know i am an "over packer" and they can not believe the stuff i plan on bringing with me..so i would like to narrow things down to a low roar! I did get a list of what to take from your website, but am confused about the nightgown and robe thing...

Pampering yourself before your surgery is a great idea and it will help relax you! Check with your doctor/hospital to see if they will allow you to keep polish on your toes. Some hospitals say no polish at all and some say only on your toes...no fingernails.

I took my own gown and robe to the hospital. I stayed in the beautiful hospital one the first day and overnight and the next day after my IV was removed, I slipped into my own gown. It made me feel better and fresher. I used my robe when I walked. It was more comfortable to me than the one they gave me at the hospital.

Good luck!

I kept it real basic:

- Robe (so my booty didn't hang out, although the hospital gown covered it quite well)
- Socks
- Slippers
- Chap Stick
- Toothbrush/Toothpaste
- Comb
- Moisturizer (didn't use it)

Anything else I brought was unnecessary. The one thing I never thought to bring but the nurses were able to give me:

- EARPLUGS!!!

Seriously. Was no peaceful resting in that place between all the various clanking around of things, my roommate crying out in pain from gallstones, etc.

Best of luck -
Lisa

My dr allowed me to wear acrylic nails during my surgery and she has a great reputation as a gyn/onc

I took my own pjs and robe and was so happy that I did. I wore the hospital one for the first day and a half until I had my first shower.
I found that my bright pink and lime green pjs made me feel heaps brighter. I also didn't have to worry about exposing any bum whilst walking.
I was worried beforehand about the pjs (top and pants) but they were fine once the catheter was out which was before I had my first shower.
Best of luck darl. My surgery (TVH) was eight days ago and I am feeling fantastic albeit tired.
