breathing difficulties post-op
I'm in my 6th week post-op a total hysterectomy. I started having breathing difficulties in my 3rd week. Couldn't catch my breath. Was hospitalized for 2 days of tests (they were looking for blood clots and found none). They said I was having an anxiety attack (which I've never had before) and gave me Xanax. It helps, but also puts me to sleep, which means I can't work. Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, how long did it last?

breathing difficulties post-op
Hi--
I have had some breathing difficulties. to me it feels more like i am not breathing deeply enough, but it is not as bad now that i am not on pain meds. It almost feels like my nose is stuffed, but dry stuffed, not wet, blowable stuffed. On the pain meds it would be really bad when i was in bed--not as bad when i was up and walking around.
I didn't even mention this to my dr.--but now that you say something about blod clots I am concerned.
were you having anyother signs of an anxiety attack. did you FEEL nervous, up tight, etc.? I'm sure mine's not that--i am lying around the house doing nothing--how could i be uptight??
I hope you feel better.

Yes, ever scince I had my surg. I do have asthma to start with but after I was brought back to my room I had a few asthma attacks. I has to work w/ a respitory therapist. It healped alot. I've been back in the hospital again for a wk this time, but no attacks. I just had to use my nebulizer more frequenlty. It does get better each day, thankfully.
Good Luck to you,
Robin

RE: breathing problems
Hi Sharon, Iam 7 weeks post op and I have experienced breathing problems, also, I called my Dr. a couple of weeks ago, and she felt it was from my allergies. I have bad allergies in the fall. I never heard of a blood clot, now I'm wondering. I find it's not as bad as it was. I guess if she thought there was a major problem, she would of asked me to come into the office, but she didn't. I hope she was right in her judgement.
