Anybody Have This Happen?????

I had TAH plus cervix removed 5-25-04. Last night after my husband and I had sex, there was blood everywhere. There's no place for the blood to come from except my incision where my cerix used to be. And I had no pain last night. This is the first time this has happened and I'm nervous about it. I don't want to bug my doctor, so I thought I'd talk to you guys first.

Melissa, you say there was "blood everywhere".... PLEASE BUG YOUR DOCTOR.

the dr is there to take care of you - and is paid to do so. You are a paying client and have the right to attention when you need it. You aren't being silly or "calling for nothing" if there was blood everywhere.

please don't put yourself at risk -- you may have torn the cuff or pulled some stitches out and require some treatment.

Please get checked out as soon as you can.

(and then let us know how you are!!)

That's good -

Hugsssssssss I totally agree with all the sisters have said. Blood no matter how little or large should be checked out, even if it is just to put yours and your hubbies minds at rest.
I know if it were me my hubby would have me to the docs quick smart, so go see them.
Let us know how your get on.

Anybody Have This Happen?????

I called the doctor on call this afternoon and she said it sounds completely normal. said it sounds like I have granulation and I just have to go in the office and they'll use silver nitrate. I asked her why so much blood last night and she said sounded like it could have been a big granulation and the "capillaries broke". said it'll continue after sex until I have it taken care of. I'm so relieved!!
Thank you for giving me the guts to call my doctor. I just felt like I called her so many times before my surgery, and she just needed a rest from me for a while.

Glad you were able to get ahold of your doc. and...no...you're not bugging her...you PAY her (or the insurance company does).

Anyway...glad you are relieved...hope the silver nitrate does the trick.

happy healing!

Hi Melissa,
I'm so glad you called. It is always better to call and find out rather than to let things go and possibly get worse.

Granulation isn't any fun, but it is also not so very unusual.

There is an article on granulation in the post op articles (home page left hand side) you might find it helpful for understanding exactly what she's talking about.

take care!
