depression/hormones + fluid from nipple

I am 12 weeks post op. having had a LAVH and pelvic repair. I have been doing quite well although felt that I was having some hormone re-adjustement every couple of weeks. I have just come down with bad depression, exhaustion (unable to do anything much!) and today I noticed some clear fluid coming from one of my breasts. I am not concerned that this is indicative of breast cancer because I have recently been screened and have no breast changes. I feel awful and have been using progesterone cream. Do you think I need oestrogen? I have had chronic fatigue for years and a tendency to depression with it. I would like to feel better. What upsets me is that I am much worse at 12 weeks than I was at 2! Thankyou sisters, I look forward to hearing your advice. Love Elaine

Having your estrogen levels checked would be a good idea and possibly your thyroid profile done as well. The clear fluid is often from hormonal changes but keep an eye on it.
The fact that you are feeling worse as time goes on could very well be hormonally related. It was with me. The longer I persisted before going on estrogen the worse I got. Good luck,

Elaine,
I had the same problem with fluid leakage from my breasts. Seems when my hormones are out of sinc -- I leak. The estrogen that caused me the most trouble was estriol. I was using tri-est. I have now switched to 100% estradiol and I'm ok. Progestrone plays a key role in the breast too. Too much can cause problems with breasts too. Hang in there and don't give up! You deserve to feel better!

depression/hormones + fluid from nipple

Hi, Wanted to let you know that I have had clear fluid leakage from my breasts on and off. At the time I was on the .05 Estraderm, (estradiol), patch. I have been on the Tri-Est for about 7 weeks, no swollen and sore breasts, and have noticed no leakage. Every one is different. Best of luck.

may need a simple lab test

I am 6 weeks post op and I brought the same problem to my doctor at my 4 week check up. He done a prolaction lab. Said that it could be the patuitary glad or just out of wack hormones. But, would rather be safe then sorry.

Dear, dear sisters,
Thanks for all the helpful information. I have just been to see my doctor who thinks it is hormonal and I have started using an estraderm? patch. I feel better already but will have to seen how it goes over the next month.
With love to all, Elaine
