Polycystic ovaries

I had a TAH on the 18th and both of my ovaries were enlarged and I was told that I had "multiple cysts" on each ovary. I knew my ovaries had given me much pain and discomfort and blating over the years, so I was so happy to see them go bye bye. But, my Dr. didn't use the terminology "polycystic ovaries."

Has anyone had this issue and is it the same thing? I happened to come upon an article in one of my helath mags today that stated women with this problem have symptoms such as pain, blood sugar fluctuations and cravings, inability to lose weight, and growth of hair on chest and face (I have a bit on my right breast, so have to shave it)

I was thinking with the ovaries gonzo, that it would take care of these problems, and I will now have constant blood sugar levels and the ability to lose weight. Any advise or knowledge regarding this condition?

Polycystic ovaries

Hi just wanted to tell you my daughter has PCOS but that is different from what I had (cists on my overys). MY DD had too much testosterone and an elevated insulin count in her blood she also had terrible acne which was odd considering my DH and I never had acne. so you might want to look up Polycystic overy syndrom on the net I did as soon as I got her diagnosis. And also call DR if you are still confused with YOUR diagnosis.
Good luck and best wishes.......Susan

Cysts

[font=courier new] Hi Melanie, I understand how you feel and your confusion. I after my surgery found myself in a place I didn't recongnise or understand, & I'm here to tell you, educating yourself on the play your hormones have on your body and the thyroid and adrenal glands. they all work in a harmoney with each other and the balance they need is what keeps YOU in cync, in meaning what makes you YOU. but with each of use that level of each hormone can be very different. Progestrone is the calming hormone, made to help protect your uterus from the estrogen dominance that takes place at that time of the month. When someone is estrogen dominate it means that It is out weighing the other hormones tipping the scales and causing the endro. and cysts, and pms, to name just a couple. Odds are you have been low prog. for a while. but thats just a guess. and my Me... Never a problem with anything till after 2 -C-sec Had my tubes tied during 2nd. 20yrs old. Bye 25 I was having sevear pms, and allergies, cysts cut out of breast, wrist, and had them later (30) on the ovaries. Went estrogen dom. I believe by this point because I started the endro.along with menopause symptoms, then at 35 after laproscopic surgery for cyst, was told rt. ovarie was half way through menopause. After surgery through me into terrable surgical menopause, The research I've done, leads me to believe, it all goes back to progestrone def. because of the early tying of the tubes. Now why no one seen this, I don't understand, I see the big picture now...I feel If they would have started me on HTR long ago, Instead of trying to hand me a anti-dep. or this pill or that to cover up symptoms, I would have saved myself and those around me a lot of grief. Now learn all you can, listen to your body and you will start to recoginze the symptoms... The Andreal glands have a lot to do with things like the weight gain and suger problems. leading to the thyroid. I hope this helped some, I would rather you read then me try to explain. I'm still having a hard time seperating my thoughts. good luck , you may write me back if you like...KIM [/F]
