OKay - trying to be calm and rational, which I hven't ben most of the day. It suddenly hit me that I'm under a month away for the surgery and now I'm starting to panic. Not to mention that lots of my friends and co-workers are talking about it so it hits me everywhere I go.

I'm pretty stright forward with people medicaly. I've endured alot wth 23 cleft palate/lip related surgeries, 3 laporoscpies, and ear repair for a punctured ear drum - so talking about this hasn't been a problem.

I feel like my family (mom, dad, siblings) doesn't get what this surgery means for me. Friends trivilize it - and my husband is convinced I'm going to die so I'm trying to reassure him.

What happened to being there for me?????

Uggghh!!! I think I need to snuggle up with my dogs and shut out the rest of the world.

Karen

I am sorry you are having a hard time now. The waiting for the day can be a little trying to say the least. I have been there and know how all these things are causing a lot of moodiness and stress for all involved.

DH's don't understand sometimes ,and are afraid for us and react differently when they are concerned . Yes, sometimes we have to help them understand what we know about the surgery so they don't worry unduly and let them know how they can help us.

I think sometimes people play down the surgery so they don't worry or scare us. It is interesting how people react to us having surgery.

They say dog is a man 's best friend, and sometimes it is a comfort to just be comforted by their quiet presence. It is a nice place to retreat to sometimes, so enjoy and relax.

Best wishes on your surgery and recovery. I'll be thinking and praying for you.

Karen,

It's hard for people to understand what you are feeling/facing, if they have never been through it. My sisters have no clue.....they think I have gone back to work, yet I haven't. They stopped coming here (10 minutes away) and calling after week 2.
We are here for you!!!

I am praying for you......praying that you will give your panic to God and allow Him to replace it with His peace. I am praying for your DH as well. I pray that he will see that although it is major surgery, it is done every day. I pray he will trust God for you and your surgery.

Nancy
